impossible to download maps larger than 360 MB on Suunto race
-
I changed my phone and to successfully pair with the new phone, I had to reset my watch.
When I wanted to reload the most useful maps for me (France Midi-Pyrénées, France Languedoc-Roussillon and Slovenia, around 600 MB each)
loading got stuck even though it worked last year with the same WiFi.
I can load maps up to around 360 MB (France-Auvergne, Spain-Aragon, for example)
but larger cards are blocked along the way, even France - Centre 368 MB (stopped not far from the end) or France Languedoc Roussillon 414 MB (stopped at about 30%),
always at the same level during multiple attempts. Larger maps of 600 MB are stopped very far from half which should at least charge if I had any size limitation (see pictures)
I tried again with another phone and previous watch software releases (2.37.48, 2.39.20) and the newest release (2.39.44) but no change! -
@olivier-kasper31130 this is strange, just today I test-loaded Egypt, which is 1,48GB. Took 1h but finished nicely…

@olivier-kasper31130 please send logs and let me know in DM email you use for Suunto App

@olivier-kasper31130 It’s maybe the think like me

FRANCE/Rhone-Alpe is impossible to download, but Corse work. -
I tried to download Egypt and it was OK yesterday (after more than an hour) .
The problem is not only a matter of size : after that I tried to get Rhône-Alpes map and it failed then I tried Midi-Pyrenées again and it still stopped at the same level.
Corse, Aragon and Auvergne, which are smaler, were successfully downloaded.

I’d certainly appreciate hiking in Egypt but it’s far from home… -
I forgot : I sent logs yesterday night
-
@olivier-kasper31130 I think we have the same problem…
I sent too logs to @pavel-samokha , waiting response. -
I created a ticket in internal system about your problems, that’s all I can do at this point
-
@pavel-samokha
- What do the logs say?
- When can we expect an answer?
- If the others don’t have this problem, maybe it’s a hardware problem? if that’s the case, I still have time to send the watch back to amazon to get another one. should I do that?
-
@Laurent-Matheis I will let you know when I have any info, at this time I don’t have confident answers.
-
I can suggest hard reset and FW downgrade. That what I would try to do if I had such issue. But I’m not sure if this helps

, 2.39.20
I have done that : at the beginning I was in 2.39.20 ; I’ve done a first Hard reset , then back to 2.37.48 , then the 2.39.44 and no change .
Did you get my logs ?
I choose Race model because of the maps and I hike in western Europe, mainly in France as you can guess. Basse Normandie , which is 228 MB, was downloaded but Alpes Cote d’Azur (553 MB) stopped at the beginning. Slovenia (647 MB) failed as well.
Thanks for all -
I sent my watch back to Amazon to get a new one and I had exactly the same problem!
And just in case, I haven’t updated the firmware.
So the problem isn’t hardware. On the other hand, I tried using my company’s wifi network (fibre optic) and it worked !!!
But at home it doesn’t work with any of my 2 separate wifi networks!I think there’s a problem in the watch on the software side to manage long downloads on certain wifi networks, something that makes the watch think that the network is no longer available even though it’s functional.
That’s it for me, I’ll be loading my cards at the office…

@Laurent-Matheis could it possibly be that you have some child safety protection via your internet provider active? I don’t know about Suunto, but often such files are delivered over CDNs and sometimes those are blocked, because they could contain NSFW content as well… archive.org is one that often has trouble…

Thank’s for this post : as I succeded in downloading Egypt (1.5 GB) (more than an hour) , it’s probably not a matter of size but maybe the place where the map comes from. I’ll try with another Wifi network…
