I have the same on my Vertical. As far as I can tell I can’t install maps until it’s fixed? If so, do I have to wait until next Firmware update? I hope not, because next week I have a race in another country and I rely on having the map installed.

@gerasimos no, I don’t think it works. It doesn’t allow me to add a new wifi network on the app.

Hello, same problem with a Suunto Race S just bought a few days ago. I stopped and also reinitialized the watch with factory settings, disabled/enabled all parameters related to connectivity and I can’t connect Wifi on the watch. Firmware version is 2.40.38

Who can help? Thanks a million, feeling very frustrated tonight to not be able to upload maps on my beautiful new watch

@Isabelle-Licoine what is exactly the issue?

For me, the issue was that the watch was not activating the WiFi in the watch. For this factory reset solved the issue.

If the issue is that, watch can activate WiFi, but cannot find any network, check WiFi type (as it’s being explained)

A factory reset just to be able to toggle a yes/no button? Not acceptable. I hope it’ll be fixed by next update.

I’m facing the exact same issue with my Suunto Race S after traveling abroad. Wireless network toggles off immediately, and restarting hasn’t helped. Frustrating, as I need maps for an upcoming Greggs Menu food shoot in UK. Several locations of Greggs and covering several menu items.

                      Hello, thanks for your reply.
WIFI is 2,4GHz (and not 5 GHz which is not supported by the watch), Wifi is activated on the watch as well as Discovery mode, plane mode is off… I tried many times, and it still does not work.
                      Any idea?
                      Thanks a lot, cheers

if you are lucky to have wifi enabled on the watch, then the rest of the config is done in the app on your phone.

Still no solution proposed for this issue other than a hard reset? I believe it would be appropriate to release a software update as soon as possible

@fedequei have you tried to forget previous networks (if you had some already) in SA. Then disconnect connection in you watch, forget BT connection in your phone. Uninstall app. restart phone. reinstall app. Reconnect phone with watch ? and try again to add network ?
This may worth to be tested and will not need to reset your watch.

I’ve tried all the suggested solutions, but nothing changes. Is there a future release date for the software update? I need to download new maps and I’ve been stuck for over a month

@fedequei The only thing that helped to restore the connection was resetting the watch settings (nonsense). The watch was able to access the Internet (I can see it in the router settings). But the maps still won’t download. I’ve already tried everything. Both resetting and rolling back to the previous version in the watch. Support doesn’t respond. I’m shocked by such a service

@jakubedzior I had an issue where I couldn’t download maps for the local area while I’m abroad.

Turns out the reason was likely the hotel WiFi network has a manual authentication button to hit on a website before it lets you use the internet. The UI says it connected but there’s no indication that it can actually use the connection.

Went to a coffee shop with my charger and connected to their WiFi and I could download the map!

I should have realised but I’ve already factory reset my watch in the meantime 🤦

an easy workaround is to connect to the wifi with your smartphone, then use it as an hotspot

@Stefano-M64 I don’t think that phones can replicate Wifi like an access point.
When you enable Wifi tethering, your phone will use cellular data.
Gut this is still a good way to download maps if it is not possible to use other Wifi.
