Suunto 9 Peak

I think the old (Spartan era) outdoor watchface is the best on the Peak, especially with blue highlights.

First run completed with the S9P and I have to admit I’m very surprised!
HR spiked up and down a lot but once I tightened the strap one hole it was spot on and very consistent.
I selected GPS only mode and the accuracy was incredible! Some parts of the route were on the same road and the tracks almost overlap 100%. No wobbles or cutting corners. -
Just did a small hike yesterday to test OHR, seems better than previous version.
Hopefully I will confirm this after next running session
-
@mff73 Did I miss something or the watchface is different than in Spartans and S9. I mean, in SSU and S9 that have owned and own the outer ring is with color for the sun light hours but in yours (S9P) is for the night hours. Is this because of the inverted colors? or it is a bug?
-
@cosmecosta because of the inverted colors
-
@surfboomerang This looks very, very good.

So this is intended…well in my opinion it is more a bug/error, because inverting the colors should not change functionality or the way of reading the information. I mean if the watchface indicates with a ring the sun light hours it always should indicate the sun light hours…now is more like a day/night shift watchface depending on the colors
On the other hand and taking advantage of the watchface topic, is there any intention to update the existing watchfaces with the comments in the forum like: in classic outdoor watchface the possibility of changing the upper field or in the new outdoor watchface the possibility to know the battery level all the time, during nights too, or when the battery is under certain level that the watchface shows some red icon or something, …
-
@cosmecosta yep, for this watchface the dark theme shows sun, the light theme shows darkness. It is a decision taken by Suunto (and yes, someone already complained about that during testing months ago) and will probably not change.

@surfboomerang two fingers from the wristbone, tight but not to the point of pain. It matches both Polar OH1 and Suunto smartsensor for me, and it has been doing it for months (not from day 1, but it improved a lot) while running, doing slow/fast/sprints etc… Max difference is usually 1/2 bpm, because of different positioning (wrist vs. chest vs. upper arm). Nowadays is very very good for me also for walking/hiking, and it has always been good on the bike (but on the bike I wear it less tight, as the hand is holding the bike and tight watch + closed hand may create more issues with blood flow).
For GPS I have been using Galileo in recent weeks, with incredible results (but then, some other people always have issues with Galileo). Glonass for me does not really work better than GPS only. GPS only is fine, but tracks are not as good (for me) moving slowly (e.g. walking). I haven’t used Beidou in few weeks, but I did one track Cooper test a month or so ago, with Beidou, and not only the track was very good, distance with autolaps on the track were so close to 400 meters for each lap (403/402/406 etc.).
Just my two cents
-
@isazi I think that the next couple of weeks we will see a lot of comparisons between the S9P and other watches. And also neverending debates about the best GNSS setting
Unfortunately there is no perfect setting for everyone.

@isazi is blood oxygen level measured during night/day in certain intervals or on demand?
-
@dulko79
Good question , not appear blood oxygen on the night is correct ? -
@dulko79 only on demand atm.
During activity it does not make sense (but it would make on demand)
-
No one did more runs and tests ?
-
Just did one small 5k run session to test OHR which wasnt working at all with my freshly new old S9Baro.
S9Peak: Very comfortable, no problem to read a 7 values screen while running despite the smaller size.
GPS Accuracy: No problem at all.
OHR: Works much better than previous model. Values are in line with what I can expect (a bit high but surely because of outdoor heat). We clearly see that HR rise during my two 1km intervals and drop down during the rests.
VO2Max: no value was calculated during this run… Is it normal ?

No issues about VO2max reported (I always get the value). But it is your first activity with a new watch, so it needs some time.
