@zhang965 interesting. Shouldn’t it interfere with cadence too? I.e. be prone to bad readings with higher cadence?

    Maybe, who knows,

I argued a lot before with that dumb guy on this forum about the rise to wake feature, because I cannot trigger it correctly during my runs and he claims it works for him perfectly.

And one day, he post a run and I saw his pace…then I do understand.

If you run with a lower speed, it will work better, but if you run faster than 4:00mins/km it will be a problem, for example when you run with 4:00/km, it means 4m/s , rise the arm, wait the screen wakes up will take 1,5s (or more) reading values takes 1,5s, it means you are not looking forward about 10 meters. It’s kind of dangerous.

It’s also my concerns on Suunto products, it seems target to the LSD runners, if you are high HR player, you are out,

@zhang965 for OHR, maybe it’s more speed (and/or cadence) than HR. I run frequently at 160bpm+ but am way slower than you (around 5:00/km) and OHR works well for me. I also have a very low cadence (approx. 150).

I don’t know, I only use belt sensor…the belt never cheats on me…

I run faster than you because I run less longer than you

It’s what I did this morning, I’d say the gps is impressive, I still hope s9pp would have came with dual band.

It’s not amazing, it’s just youth, I normally do my 10k at 180 average. I also did at 191 on average…

Greetings to all Suunto 9 Peak Pro owners!
First of all, I would like to say that I am very satisfied with the watch - route recording, battery life, etc… But one thing bothers me a little: the step counting, which is very sensitive, so much so that you just raise your hand while sitting and the steps jump, or at least a step. Can this sensitivity be adjusted somewhere? Do you have a similar experience? Couldn’t another update fix this? Thanks for your opinions.

Hello Xperia 10 eye eye eye user,

Yes, it’s the tradition since S9, the old story is S9 line has no such context sensor so the step counter is less accurate than S3 or S5 .

My suggestion is, just forget it, don’t look it, be an ostrich.

@zhang965 uhmmmm I’m usually running above 150-160HR, and rise to wake usually works well…but, sometimes during nights, I found imposible to trigger correctly… my point here is that, from my viewpoint, the functionality deppends in body position.
This is at least my impression

@Martin-Vrska I think that Suunto prioritized step counting with the 3, 7 and 5 series as the individuals purchasing and using those would be more concerned with step counts. The 9 series is I think is more focused on the athletes and at least in my sphere of friends not a single one pays attention to the steps, they pay attention to hours of exercise, intensity, etc.
I do not know if enhancing the step detection in the 9 series would affect other functions or if the development is deemed not sufficiently worthy.
