Suunto 9 Baro crashes / restarts at the beginning of a training

@chargerunner
@zhang965
I do not recommend a hard reset at first.
I do recommend to send logs, as described in the other thread when it happens next time. then, I recommend to change the routine: e.g. use a different or no S+ feature just to see if it makes a difference.hard reset is always the last resort IMO

Since there are many discussions about this topic, I’m closing this one to avoid duplicates

@chargerunner can you send logs after a crash and send me a PM? I will open a bug with Suunto, there are developers investigating these crashes in the production firmware and they need logs.
-
@isazi Isazi, I sent logs and sent you a PM on 21 Dec, hope it helps. Probably is a similar (or the same) issue (S9P in my case).
-
@jjpaz because there is no pattern in this that we can identify, we need logs from multiple users.
-
Thank you @freeheeler, the other thread seems to describe to same issue. I’ve also tried hard reset a few days ago, and it didn’t help at all.
@isazi Thank you for the feedback, the last occurence was this morning, and after that I had a successful excercise, so I hope the crash logs are still there. I will send the logs later, then PM you. -
@chargerunner it is better to do it after the first sync after the crash, and possibly close to the crash. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again, but if it does, send logs and ping me.
-
@isazi Thanks for your feedback, I have sent the logs. Hope that the causes are found the the issues solved. As for me, with the current situation, I’m convinced these issues will keep coming every time to me
-
@chargerunner I’ll try to report this one too, maybe it’s not too late.
-
So today this happened again (why not?), not only once, but three times (set up the training > start > crash > set up > start > crash > set up > start > crash), and after the last time, the watch shows this screen:
Now I connect the watch to my PC, and Suunto Link says “Watch reset required”
I have sent the logs. Hope this help.

-
@chargerunner if your watch is under warranty, try also to contact support. Your case may even be hardware related, as it looks slightly different than the others.
-
@isazi Only a suggestion, it could be possible to downgrade the software to the previous version?
It would be a fast test to verify if it’s a software or hardware related problem.
With other brands is possible to upload previous versions in case of problems.
It seems that previous software is more stable in some situations. -
@jjpaz
find your devices name on top of the thread and select the file you want to downgrade to. drag and drop it into SuuntoLink
if it helps, maybe do the upgrade again anyway at some point to see if it remains or is solved.

@isazi thanks for the suggestion, I’ll give the watch another week to see if it works better after the reset, if it doesn’t then I’ll contact the support
@jjpaz @freeheeler thanks for the downgrading idea. Indeed it seems the issue with my watch occurs after upgrading to the latest software version, before I’ve never run into it. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, who knows…
Have a great weekend you all!

@chargerunner said in Suunto 9 Baro crashes / restarts at the beginning of a training:
Has anyone experienced the same problem?
Yes - same problem here since last update
-
@isazi I seem to have the same problem as everyone else.
No matter if I use some of my structured workouts or just plain running mode it crashes 1 or 2 times.
It started about 3 weeks ago. First time it happened on Jan 3rd around 5PM the watch just froze and did not work for the whole run (10km). Last week on 20 Jan I’ve lost fist 2 km while getting the watch to work.
Last time was today (25 Jan) around 1.06 PM - I’ve sent my logs and I hope it helps - 976829434548900.@chargerunner - did downgrading help?
anyone tried had reset? did it help?
-
@Mario-Malčak I tried the hard reset last week. Everything was ok for 6 days but had another crash today.
-
@SimonHumm thanks for info. I hope they will fix this soon because it’s going to drive me crazy
-
@Mario-Malčak no I didn’t downgrade (yet). I did the hard reset by Suunto Link.
@SimonHumm I had the same experience. Hard reset on Friday of last week, everything went well until this morning.
@isazi So one week after the hard reset by Suunto Link, today the issue happened again (even twice in a row). I will send the log and its ID to you by PM. Hope this help fnid the bug.
Another thing that I noticed: after the hard reset, the watch saved the activities quite quickly at the end of them, and I think when my watch had the issues previously, saving took quite some time (half a minute maybe???). Now when the issue occurred again, I also found that saving has become a bit slower than when the watch was just reset.

I noticed my s9b s9p are getting slower with time.
