I’ve reported this topic before but the GPS accuracy of the SV needs to improved. Recently ran the CPH marathon and did manual splits on the kilometer marker signs. You can see from these images just how much the extra distance SV reports affects the pace the watch shows in a race situation. I know now by heart no to trust my pace and just run about 6 seconds faster to reach my target pace, but still, it is very annoying. Overall distance ended up being 42.95km, which is way more than my friends with Garmins had on the same course. (I did perfect cornering, I know how to corner.)

Other topic is that the SA still shows avg HR wrong when viewing automatic splits. True avg HR can be seen from manual splits and you can see where the problem is if you take a look at the second picture…

In my opinion the accuracy you reported is great. Very constant and likely you don’t have the perfect line available in the race. For your usecase the snap to route function should help to control your pace better during the race
Regarding the HR: Thats really strange and I think it happens in other situations too. Must be a bug in the App 😞

Edit: Also I thin that Suunto counts 3D distance and some other 2D. Should not make a big difference during a marathon, but still…

@VoiGAS I’m personally not satisfied with the deviation in distance/pace, for me 6 seconds per km is too much. The whole point of using these devices is to get useful data to support us in training/racing. If the device is unable to provide said data than what’s the point? 😄

@localful yeah, maybe my expectations are too low.

@localful No run will perfectly show the theoretical distance because you always run a little differently. In addition, there are minor GPS inaccuracies.
For GPS accuracy tests, I recommend a bike with a magnetic speed/distance sensor, and not some comparisons with other watches, which are also burdened with similar errors.

I installed 2.40.44 (2025 Q1 Hotfix) and, again, Autolap got turned ON on Basic Running profile (only one that I use). It’s always the same after every update since I got the watch, Autolap turning ON and driving me crazy every 1km until I finish the run and then turning it off again.

I understand your irritation. I am irritated after each update by turning off the laps (100m) in swimming and turning on the “smiley” feeling, which I turn off every time.

Since the recent update, has anyone else had the resources have long gaps? Noticed the gap overnight and again today during the activity.

Also noticed (unrelated to the update) that the resources never go below 10%, even if I’ve not really slept so it’s at 10% first thing.

Hi. It’s not a bug but I don’t know where to ask the question and I guess no one can answer due to nda’s.

                        But here it goes.
I can’t really tell understand why the Suunto vertical differs in the way some features are presented like resources and sleep vs the Race and Race S. I testet the Suunto race and for me the resources and sleep works quite well and I really like the features. But I can’t cope with the amoled screen. It is just not for me.

I have read in the forum that Suunto differentiate the models due to testing their own algorithms in the Vertical. Is this still the case and how long will they evaluate it.

                        Thanks.

@helgonet12 I don’t think it’s about evaluation. Race and Race S have third party algorithms which cost money because of licensing reasons. Suunto would have to pay more if the same licensed algorithms were pushed to older Verticals. So this is what we get with Vertical although Suunto has been tweaking it better according to the users’ and field testers’ feedback.

@BrunoH thanks for your replay and I guess you are right. I’ll just have to wait for the successor of the vertical come. Thanks. 😀
