@isazi said in Suunto Vertical: Bug Collection:

@dombo I guess like with everything else, if you are not satisfied at all ask for a reimbursement. I bought mine watch like everyone else, zero crashes and no bugs. So, it’s not as buggy as reading the forum makes it sound.

Same as @isazi, not a single “real” bug (I Mean, that would crash the watch or make it useless). Just the few issues that are discussed (extra battery consumption when using apps, maps not shown sometimes - fixed with stopping the watch thru settings/general/stop the watch…and I think that’s all). And I can tell I’ve tested it and pushed it quite far. World needs more indulgence 😊

Concerning battery…I don’t know when I’ll be able to get it to 0%…just went for an hour trail running, starting with 5% battery left. Almost under trees all along, maps activated and displayed half an hour, and gps to best…and still 4% when finishing…

      Suunto’s devices at home :
      Vertical titanium solar
      Suunto Race S
      S9pp titanium sand
      Suunto Wing
      S9B titanium Ambassador edition, A3P, X6

@isazi so my watch is not OK and I should ask to replace it? “I had no issues” is not proof that product has no issues, while “multiple people had some issues” proof product has issues. usually testers and developers have no issues on their own testings 🙂 or am I wrong?

I had a lot of crashes (both in sport mode and watch face mode), maps didn’t work when I needed them and battery is totally random between 1 and 5% in an hour. doing different sports, different sport modes, different S+ apps. reaching zero battery was also almost impossible for me, because I had to charge it to be sure to last 10+ hours on bike. It is true I can use it, gps track is great and big kudos to Suunto devs for saving activity on crash (even not all data are included).

as I can see, I’m not alone here with the issues. so or some part of production is faulty or there are bugs. and bugs were indirectly confirmed also by you.

so it is just raising frustration and I promise I will silently wait for the hotfix.

In fact he said to ask for a refund 🙂 not for a replacement

@dombo I understand your frustrations, but you can see the bias here: people with issues post, it looks like everyone has issues. But we don’t really know the real percentage of people with issues compared to the total user base.
Nothing is bug free, certainly not any sports watch, and Suunto even acknowdged that some bugs are present and there is need for a hotfix release in June. At the same time, the watch is very usable for many.

@Frederick-Rochette did you use them together? When a “ghost” S+ is present (such as when you see a white/black screen with nothing on it) the behaviour of other S+ apps may be affected.

@dombo em, I think I have ack the bugs here and there is open communication here as well. Afaik my profile sig reads :

                  Community Manager / Admin @Suunto

So yes in a few days (hopefully not more than a week) there will be an update out that fixes those issues.

                    Thanks for your participation here!

I post the my bugs here to improve the watch, not to blame Suunto. I had the experience with my Suunto 9 Baro that they work hard to fix bugs. Keep it up!

@dombo I will add my voice here too. During testing of the release firmware I had no crashes and none of the bugs you describe. I used the watch for two long ultra events with no issues, In those I used maps, a route and two S+ apps. I om sorry you are having the issues you have noted.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos thank you for more detailed insights. less than a week sounds very good. fingers crossed.

I don’t blame Suunto. I’m not saying that you guys did not do your job during testing. I know how hard (and almost impossible) is to deliver faultless product.

I experienced the same issues as others are describing, so I do not judge based on what is written here only. And I know, that contacting support will not help me.

I just wanted to say, that there might be big improvement to have list in this thread of acknowledged/known bugs (or you can call it whatever name you want) with possible workaround, so we do not have to discuss the same thing over and over.

                          example:
Huge battery drain during activity: do not use two S+ apps together and do not use weather widget.

I didn’t have the impression that you’re complaining, rather commenting and sending logs 👍

I sometimes also wish for such a list, but it is very dynamic and if people use the search function, they will discover issues, what works, what not and get confused.
I think all critical issues are reported and being worked on to have them solved within reasonable time 🙂 👍

I don’t do such a list with my customers or service technicians either. they report, I’m aware, I evaluate and decide and solve internally.
I prefer the teams to focus on solving, rather than communicating 😉 ✊

@freeheeler Understandable, but from a customer perspective it is a bit different I think.

When you deliver feedback about the feature behavior it is not clear sometimes if it is a user error, it is by design or if it is just a bug. When Suunto investigates and acknowledge that it’s a bug, people stop searching for a solution and wait for an update.
If it’s not acknowledged, people start speculating in all directions. Acknowleding the bug can also give the customer the feeling that their feedback is taken seriously and they will likely provide more feedback in the future instead of bashing the watch or brand.

Also a short list can give users a quick overview of issues before they post about the same topic again. Especially new users can benefit from it.

@surfboomerang I do want to acknowledge all of the moderators as well as volunteers on here who are trying to answer questions as best they can on behalf of Suunto - Suunto have a small staff, and I do rely and appreciate the feedback and community driven tech help on here more so than a corporate response via email.

Much more timely and real life, and I trust they are feeding peoples concerns here back to Suunto.

I think its very unique and I like it a lot.

I am one of the lucky ones who so far has not really had any issues (1 soft reset for maps and they have been good since then). Also remember initial reviews by DC Rainmaker etc were all good and I know that DC Rainmaker will report issues if he gets a device sent to him with pre-release buggy software, so lets hope those have issues are just a random few.

I also know from working for big companies that people with issues will be 90+ percent of the discussion, and well less than 10 percent pipe in with positive stuff! There are a LOT of Suunto Vertical users out there (didnt the first batch sell out?) with no need to come to this Suunto forum because their devices are working just fine.

                                      …just my 2 cents.

Dont know if this counts as a bug, but I’m a little surprised that the GPS accuracy on my Vertical is noticably worse than on my 9PP. And that’s with best accuracy enabled. It has me walking through buildings, has me walking in the middle of the street or in my neighbors yard. My 9PP isn’t perfect either, but it’s better. 🤔

Is the blood oxygen sensor functional? It doesn’t measure during the day and makes one record at night - always 100% - compared to a medical device, it’s nonsense.

Sleep measurement - I go to bed at 10 in the evening, wake up on the toilet for a few minutes at 3 in the morning and the watch makes a report, even when I go to sleep again. Instead of 8 hours of sleep, the watch will show only 5.

@Walter-Samuel I get the same blood oxygen reading as my past devices (garmin coros Suunto) overnight. Usually between 91 and 98. Maybe try a manual reading during the daytime.

Also make sure you set your sleep time do not disturb parameters. Mine is set to sleep at 11am and wake 630 am.
