did you send logs or will you be able to check if restarting the watch helps and if it happens again send logs then? -
Weird. Mine worked fine with complete maps for about 2 weeks, but now locally from my house where it always works Im back to a semi black grid again - some map but when scrolling around the screen all black grid outside 500m radius. Since I drove to run outside this 500m zone, I had just black grid.
Another question: I tried changing map type from Outdoors to Detailed to Dark, which didn’t make a difference, but I noticed there was also no difference between Outdoors map and Dark map versions. Does ‘dark’ map mode only render in certain conditions?

Hello,
Vertical purchased 2 weeks ago (before reading pbs on this forum…) and yes map is a pb also for me.
I managed only once to have PARIS map displayed correctly on my watch after several trials and since then, impossible to use again the same map !Do we have a clear fix for it or not ?

@laurent92m Appears to be intermittent. Have you tried deleting and redownloading the map? Let me know if it continues not to work. I am going to bring this up with Suunto and see what they say. I see too many map issues here.
I recently traveled through 5 US states outside of my home state. I had one time a black map but the day before and day after it worked. Unclear why once the map did not show.

Yesterday afternoon, I did the following:
1 - Soft reset of the watch ( Press 12 sec top right button)
2 - Calibrate compassAnd since that I have been able to use Paris map during several activities and also open map without selecting first one sport.
One thought: as soon as you add a map, you might have to go throught steps 1 & 2 above , otherwise maps will not work including the ones which were working fine before…

LaurentLet me know what happens and if you see the black grid again post here or PM me with coordinates and I can send a note to Suunto. You should not have to soft reset after downloading a map. Glad this is working.

@Brad_Olwin do you know if this is solved in next firmware update? I planed 250km bike ride yesterday and I had terrible experience with navigation. Sometimes map was shown, sometimes only part of it, sometimes no map. Sometimes zoom in/out helped and sometimes not. It’s completely unreliable. It was an out and back (with loop on end) route, so watch didn’t know in which direction I was going. When it said turn left, maybe it was left and maybe it was right. Most confusing was right/left at fork, ok, I’ll check the map and of course there was no map
Did a lot of wrong turns, especially when I was in towns (first time there), where there are a lot of crossroads. I can not send you coordinates, because my phone can not store so much information 
Map was Friuli-Venezia Giulia in northern Italy, but this happened also on others, yesterday I really needed navigation that’s why I’m so pissed off. -
I just reset my watch to try to fix my GPS issues and now I too suffer from the no map problem. Restarts and reinstalling maps didn’t help. Might have to reset the watch again. It’s just been a great experience so far.
I planned to take the Vertical on my upcoming holiday, but I don’t think so. Garmin it is, yet again.

@zhang965 Excellent! Glad you will be heading over to the Garmin Forum now! Garmin users complain about their devices and Garmins lack of support there so your great wit will be a welcome ray of sunshine I’m sure.

@Likarnik I have not seen the black grid on the testing firmware for a long time. Unfortunately, I have also never seen it on my production Vertical, so it may just be that the places where I travel have no issues. Anyway, from the bug-tracking system that is accessible to external testers, I see that developers fixed bugs that were causing the “black grid of death”. So, hopefully this is also a thing of the past.

BTW, I created a route in Komoot, is this their fault or suuntos?

I hope the same, but have no clue about the release.

Strange, could be the watch rendering, or the fact that the route is simplified (points pruning) during transfer to watch.
