Disappointing Sleep tracking after new update
-
@Egika
Today i received Stand up reminder after i sit for 2 hours. Is it remind every 2 hours if less than 40 steps for the next 2 hours? -
@Egika Thanks for the pictures of the move alert. 40 steps in 2 hours is really not a lot. That’s probably the personal reason for me why I never get it.

@gone-troppo super bizarre! last night I got a better sleep reading than the previous ones but still over an hour less than the actual sleep duration.
I’m going to keep on tracking… hoping for reliable resultsThis happens to me as well. Sometimes sleep is perfect, it was last night and sometimes the watch states I am awake for 2h and I was not. It may be that I move around more during my sleep than most. I think the tracking will be improved. However, I have seen that the new firmware is far better than just a couple test versions prior. Sleep tracking is likely very difficult and I listen more to how I feel than what my watch tells me.

@peegee
Dissapointed again with 3 1/2h less sleep, after raising rest heart rate by 15 bpm… didn’t do any good at all -
if you want an evaluation of how good sleep tracking works I think you have to compare the watch tracking when sleeping in a sleeping lab. Even if we are sleeping we are moving a lot. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Some times we register at we have moved a lot, sometimes not. But the watch does so it would be interesting to compare the tracking of the watch with a camera recording of the sleep
-
Just adding my voice to the mix. Sleep tracking lost all accuracy after the update here too. The last three days read 12h, 2:23h, and 1:19h, while it should’ve read something like 5:30h, 7h, and 5:30h. It’s not just slightly off and balancing out; it is very far off.
I love the UI/nav changes and the additional bits, but would also love to keep the basics
-
I find no difference in sleep times/awake times before/after update. Only thing I notice is high resources (before update, I was almost never above 90%, now it’s the opposite)
-
@Likarnik same here. Sleep tracking works fine for me. And I see too that I have up to 100 % ressources in the morning. But I noticed that I am not stressed at all. Maybe the stress will be tracked when I had 14 days with HRV tracking?
-
@Stefan-Kersting I guess we are not stressed anymore because update is finally here
-
@Likarnik haha that’s right
-
if you have sleep tracking problems, try to enable dnd just in case…
-
@Stefan-Kersting I also have never seen that I am stressed on my SR. Only active/inactive and recovering in the night. But today I have a cold, my resting HR is higher, HRV dropped and my resources display “stressed”, since I got up. During the night resources went up much slower. Finally stressed again
I think resources work pretty reliable now, at least in my observations. Big improvement to FirstBeat. Just a view minor annoyances (for example resources reset when charging/putting off the watch), but not a big deal. That resources no longer rely on user input (resting hr) is also big improvement (no more faking).

i think i have sleep tracking issues (weird awake durations), and my dnd is automatically enabled during same sleep tracking range.
So at least for me, it seems not playing a role.this night, i woke up and fall asleep few minutes later, but SV decided that it was my final wake up hour.
-
Just adding to this discussion. My sleep tracking is good. Times seem to be correct, quality is higher than before the update (but approx. how I feel). Resources are almost 100%, but this is (I think) because they went up to 70% right after the upgrade and I am not able to deplete them to 0%. Each day I have 40-50% left so I assume that’s why. At least that’s my theory. HRV seems to be about the same as WHOOP. Everything except resources seems to be good here.
-
@wmichi ok so the HRV seems to work as supposed to work. Don’t want to test it by myself now but I hope you are getting better soon! Wondering if you can see the stress level after a late lunch and som alcohol, this is obvioulsy somthing that increases stress I heard.
-
@Stefan-Kersting
Let us test the alcohol contribution tonight
-
@Mff73 part of beeing a beta-tester ?

Maybe not the best thread to ask : I’m wondering about « 14 days hrv range calibration » (must be recorded among the past 60 days).
I’m not sleeping well last days (lot of work, partying unusually…). And days to come won’t be better.
First days of hrv since SV update give « low » values (32 average).
My question is : is hrv range set one time for all after those first 14 days, or is the range always evolving ?
Suunto’s hrv website talks about hrv day comparison with past 7 days, and that 14 mesures amont 60 days are needed for setting the range, but it is not clear if range will also evolved.
Sorry if it was discussed yet, didn’t manage to find answer to that question. -
@Tieutieu my understandig is that this is a “rolling” number over time. So I think in the long term the HRV will stabilize and it should not be a concern if you are in bade shape now
-
@Stefan-Kersting ok thanks. Let’s see how it will move. It shouldn’t be hard to verify considering my really poor shape those days !
