Yesterday, I had the opportunity to use Karoo 3 on the road after switching from Garmin 830. I share the observations: easy to use, without thousands of unnecessary options, fast operation, quick integration with the light, power measurement, heart rate strap, and good integration with Suunto (I train running and use Vertical) except for one parameter - calories are not imported to Suunto from Karoo. In Garmin, this integration was at a lower level, but this may be the fault of Suunto’s developers. [image: 1759139742734-pxl_20250928_133349851.jpg] [image: 1759139757341-pxl_20250928_120759494.jpg] [image: 1759139777186-pxl_20250928_120751983.jpg] Cool display, even at 0% brightness it is visible, no need to turn it up to 100% as some reviews suggest. I had auto-battery saving turned off - the display was on for exactly 3 hours, the battery dropped from 100 to 77%. So, very good for my rides. Karoo definitely gets a plus for the speed of the system, maps, notifications (e.g., about no entry), and easy entry point from Garmin to the new service despite the lack of Polish language support. On the downside, or in need of calibration, the Climb option was a little slow to detect elevation, e.g., the road was already flattening out, but the display still showed the end of the climb. I had a similar experience with Garmin, so maybe it’s a matter of GPS accuracy and location refresh rate.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I would say that the intensity of the interval is controlled by a metric. This can be a scalar value or a range of two scalar values. Viewed this way, all work the same. Put differently: people do intervals for a reason. For example, to get faster. In this example, the rationale is to go faster over a short period of time than you could over a long period of time. But what is faster? Listen to your body for the answer and correlate your feeling to a numeric value. Now that you have this value, you want your watch to assist you. So it would be nice if it told you if you are to slow (number too low) or to fast (number too high). And these conditions could be signaled visually, haptically or auditorily.

Hi let me explain a few things. There are 2 ways syncing to partners A) Partners pull from SA (Runanalyze etc B) Suunto Cloud sends to a Partners (Strava TP etc) For any option A or B a resync button would not help as you understand. For option A) -> Resync button would send again the workout to the queue to be processed by our systems. Since the item is in the queue already and fails due to x,y,z reasons resync it would not help. For options B) -> Partners are realiable for pulling the workout and thus, again the resync button would not offer any solution. I hope this helps

@mbergi this is a very good option, or Garmin or Xiaomi, or wear OS… SA is now very promising Backend, with an open API. Perhaps you or other Ucranian or Spanish or Newzelander creates the best service based on this API. Or perhaps, TP or FS or whatever. Or perhaps Suunto creates the coolest web frontend we have ever dreamed (or perhaps no). We have a year till MC it’s closed BR

@sartoric in hiking, or in general actually, altitude for sure has to be taken into account in calorie estimation… But I don’t know what other physiological factors besides hr affect activity at altitude. (I mean the body struggles and spends more energy to function). And temperature… For example, If you are cold and barely walking your body is still spending a lot of energy to avoid hypothermia.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos it’s a difference if you are cross country skiing, backcountry or alpine. But I also want to know how many hours, km etc I spent on skiing activity during a season. It’s the same with road cycling and terrain cycling. It’s absolutely a point to get this function

@Helmer-Haapala said in Live data to Suunto App / Phone as a second monitor: @andrasveres Yeah this is exactly what i’m talking about. Movescount had the feature, now Suunto App does not. I have no idea why and what the effects on battery life are as I did not find any documentation or help articles regarding the subject. Nor about whether my Suunto 5 is compatible with Movescount anymore now that it has been discontinued. Atleast I could not get the watch to sync to Movescount on Android. Hello, I tried to use my old Movescount App as a second monitor. So, The app and my S9 synced, I lost my personal sport modes, and than, I chose to use the app as second monitor and the wheel on the scree turned endlessly … Please, allow SA to be a second display for the watch !
