@hgavert I see your point but the GPS for the watch is used for more than the Sunset/Sunrise, it is used for navigation as well. The watch does not know where it is from the phone. The watch needs a GPS fix to know where it is, plain and simple. Your phone uses its Network information to tell you where you are and does not solely rely on GPS, that is why you don’t need a continuous fix. The watch does not have a cellular communication chip and has no choice. Yes you will have to get a GPS fix on the watch for the watch to know where it is.
When I travel I do stand outside waiting for transportation and allow my watch to get a GPS fix. If you are interested, the S7 works differently and can get location information without a GPS fix.
