@Brad_Olwin Ran this morning using my vertical. No issues and worked perfectly. Do it must be the watch not the heartbelt. I’ll try a soft reset and uninstalling zonesense again. If that doesn’t work probably need to do a factory reset

  • Is ZoneSense intelligent across different activity types?

@isazi said in Is ZoneSense intelligent across different activity types?: @raven each sport should have its own thresholds, I guess what’s confusing is the mix of ZoneSense and traditional thresholds that unfortunately Suunto could not avoid because people have been using HR thresholds for decades now. Ok, good to know there’s no harm to the algorithms if one wears the strap all the time; thanks! Also, in yesterday’s sessions, I did several things back to back. After that kickboxing session, I did some weight training, leaving the strap on. What’s interesting about this is that ZoneSense took another ten minutes to start up; the session was only about fifteen minutes so not much data there for ZS, but my question is more on back-to-back activities in general. I don’t have a source at the moment — perhaps it is the larger ZS thread in this forum — but I was under the impression if one wanted to, for example do a 5km running race effort, then one could do a ten minute warmup as a separate session to get ZoneSense started, then end that session and start the main workout. That is, two sessions overall: one at ten minutes staying z2 and under, then do the 5km run. I have not tried this yet. Either that’s not right at all, and ZS needs ten minutes calibration for every session, regardless of the time of last session, or it only works if the two back-to-back sessions are the same modality, or I’ve discovered a bug and ZS should have been on for the entirety of my strength workout that followed my kickboxing yesterday. Any thoughts on this situation?

@D-K I test Engo 2 at the moment and for me the glasses with the limited information are useless.

@enriqueescoms Stretching absolutely should not contribute TSS Look at how TrainingPeaks or intervals.icu manage these sort of activities.

I realise this post is quite old but for anyone else coming to this issue (like I just did on the Race S) I would note the following:- The segments and timers are all a bit confusing. As someone previously noted, the Segment 1 message comes up straight away, and the Segment 1 timer is then the delay until Segment 2. As such, I use Segment 1 as a last ditch reminder to take my pre-race gel / confirm the app has started. The time is gaps between segments (e.g. 45/45/30 mins); I note that some users have given examples with total run time (e.g. 45/90/120mins) and in my experience this is not correct. The text is definitely too small for when you’re on a run! It would be beneficial to have the ability to repeat a setup - I have a longer event planned and 20 segments isn’t enough, but it’s a simple repeated pattern… Below is an example of how I’ve set up my Race Nutrition app. I’ve only used it on one training run and tested it a few times with shorter duration segments to confirm operation, but now seems to work as I’d expect. @Matthieu-Castaigne Just a word of caution on that set up as I did the same & it didn’t quite work. If all the segments have the same time set from the start (seg 1 = 40 mins, seg 2 = 40 mins etc) the app displays them in a random order (or at least did for me). I had drink @ 40 mins for seg 1, then food & salt @ 40 mins for seg 2 (so an hour & 20 mins would have elapsed), but the first alert I got at 40 mins was for food & salt (seg 2)… I’ve now got the 1st seg set up at 45 mins & subsequent segs @ 40 mins & that seemed to work ok. Still perplexed what you do when all 20 segments have passed & you still have maybe 15-20hrs of the activity left though. Any idea if it cycles back to the start, just stops working, can the app be restarted without stopping & saving the current session or do we just revert back to monitoring the time & hope for the best ?

@BrunoH it’s up to Bosch. It seems like they have proprietary protocol, and no native integration to anything except their own headunit

@Samuel-Pirttikangas Maybe something like ^ or a custom one like half a circle with a circle on top

@pavel.samokha I’ve noticed a bizarre bug in the last days. I have added the BB app to my custom stretching sport mode, a single screen with 3 fields. Sometimes, usually after pausing and restarting the activity (I still cannot figure out a pattern) the BB app starts in the background with vibrations even if it’s disabled. There’s no way to stop it without stopping the activity

I agree with these ideas! Although if I had to boil it down to bare necessity, it would be to at least know which interval you are on. Unless I missed something, I could not figure out a way to see this on my Suunto Ocean. When doing 15 reps, it’s easy to lose count. My old Ambit 3 would give me a record of 10/15 for example.

Yes, please. Polar does it this way and I actually miss it. But it would be great if it worked for the selected intensity metric, not only for heart rate.

Also, I wanted to add that when considering Strava live segments people mostly think about very short sprint like segments. But I think the real value in medium to long segments that are complete logical routes, for example an entire push from a trailhead to a mountain summit or an entire popular route such as an FKT route - see https://fastestknowntime.com/. This is where live segments have a lot of value. Using a segment becomes more like a virtual race where you try to improve your previous result or chase the record, or perhaps even chase a person ahead of you on the leaderboard. By the way, Coros allows to choose which time you want to compete against - see https://support.coros.com/hc/en-us/articles/32280188180372-Using-Strava-Live-Segments-on-COROS-Watches
