@Norbert I agree with that, but on the other hand, it would be great if Suunto released a new firmware for the Ocean watches just before the holiday season, improving functionality, adding new features, or fixing bugs… Because if not now, when would be the best time to introduce such changes? Around Christmas at the end of the year? I’m all for well-thought-out and thoroughly tested software, but it would be nice to have updates at least twice a year (whether bigger or smaller fixes). best

I know that steps and step counter is not crucial in a sports watch and step counter in Ocean from the last update is much better but that screen Steps for the last 7 days is completely wrong. Is that really that hard to calculate and give correct information

@Brad_Olwin said in Ocean firmware Q1/Q2 2025: I would have no issues with the current Ocean feature set and be extremely happy that Suunto is willing to update and spend time, resources and engage testers to update your product for free. I broadly agree with your post but this quote isn’t realistic in the current market. Yes, be satisfied with the features you paid for, but, as every other company making a connected device provides fixes to bugs and new features, I read your stance as between unrealistic and arrogant. If Suunto want to be competitive, they have to give us bug fixes and more features, not because it’s right, but because everyone else does. It’s also been a cornerstone of Suunto’s marketing with the slogan “it keeps getting better!” TL;DR? As a consumer, be happy with what you bought Proactively manage expectations around updates, because every company is training consumers to expect free features

Hello, I have installed the new Q4 version. It’s a shame that Suunto has not paid attention to this forum. I did a depth apnea session, and there are no real changes. The only change is the surface alarm, but it’s not right; I don’t want to have to set the alarm manually. I want it to calculate automatically based on the time and depth of the apnea. The people who work with the watch don’t know anything about freediving… It’s really a shame, I really like the watch, but I can’t wait 3 months for them to possibly make a watch with the basic functionalities of an apnea watch. This is not an apnea watch; it’s a snorkeling watch. I’m considering returning the watch…

@pavel.samokha Hey Pavel, the problem with the Logbook files is not solved. My ocean is still deleting older files by itself. Sotware: 2.38.42

I need to use it more, but I suspect that the Suunto D5 dive planner is better than the Ocean dive planner, Suunto’s brand new dive computer.

@Mauerwegler thank you for the advice. However Ocean has the particularity to be a dive watch with specific features : we want some features that don’t exist on the others…such as customizable dive screen to have TTS/AI/NDL/dive time/depth (and maybe compass) on the same display.

The whole Suunto is a big disappointment for me. I’m having my D9tx serviced, and have been offered a replacement Suunto Ocean from the service centre as the D9tx are beyond repair. I accepted the offer, paid and now I’m waiting for my new watch to be shipped. Up to tree week. As I am leaving for a diving safari soon, I have written to Suunto support several times. They have always told me that they will resolve my request and I will receive an email within a few hours. It never came. Suunto has lied to me repeatedly through their support. According to me, they do not stock the Sunnto Ocean. Now that I have five days until my flight I don’t know what to do. Get a refund and switch to Garmin? Wait? How long? I can’t fly without a dive computer. If Suunto hadn’t lied to me, I could have borrowed a computer somewhere. But where am I gonna get one in five days? I don’t know how they can lie to me like that.

Hi all, Just wanted to confirm (with gratitude!) that I was able to successfully export my .fit files from my Suunto Ocean via the Suunto app on my android phone, and then import them into the latest (PC) version of Subsurface. In Subsurface I selected the option to “import from dive computer”, chose FIT as the Vendor, then selected a google drive folder on my PC where I had downloaded the .fit files. I hit download on the import window, then selected all the dives logged. Hit OK and it worked! Now I have to add my notes and double check everything is correct, but it looks good so far, although the dives don’t seem to have GPS markers.

I would recommend to install and connect suunto app on a another device for testing this issue. Maybe the expensive bad bug suunto isn’t the reason for this issue. Its not impossible that your current device is blocking there somehow… There are so much different devices, with different kind of software on the market, no company, no developer on this world is able to proof all this variances. Developers need feedback from custumer side if something not running good…
