@isazi I seem to have the same problem as everyone else.
No matter if I use some of my structured workouts or just plain running mode it crashes 1 or 2 times.
It started about 3 weeks ago. First time it happened on Jan 3rd around 5PM the watch just froze and did not work for the whole run (10km). Last week on 20 Jan I’ve lost fist 2 km while getting the watch to work.
Last time was today (25 Jan) around 1.06 PM - I’ve sent my logs and I hope it helps - 976829434548900.

      @chargerunner - did downgrading help?

anyone tried had reset? did it help?

@Mario-Malčak I tried the hard reset last week. Everything was ok for 6 days but had another crash today.

@Mario-Malčak no I didn’t downgrade (yet). I did the hard reset by Suunto Link.

@SimonHumm I had the same experience. Hard reset on Friday of last week, everything went well until this morning.

@isazi So one week after the hard reset by Suunto Link, today the issue happened again (even twice in a row). I will send the log and its ID to you by PM. Hope this help fnid the bug.

Another thing that I noticed: after the hard reset, the watch saved the activities quite quickly at the end of them, and I think when my watch had the issues previously, saving took quite some time (half a minute maybe???). Now when the issue occurred again, I also found that saving has become a bit slower than when the watch was just reset.

@zhang965 yes, so I wonder if the crash I experienced comes from a memory issue (hardware related, like @isazi said). It sounds strange though…

@zhang965 I also notice that on my watches.
It seems that watches are getting slower with continuous use and storing activities and after some time memory gets full and the reboot issue arises.

                    logbook memory?
because after a soft reset or crash the logbook is still there and performance should theoretically be the same?

@jjpaz I also think like you. For me, what’s strange is I don’t have a lot of activities (just have the watch since last October) and the activities aren’t long either (~1h each), so I don’t think they can take up a lot of space.

For what it’s worth, the day before the first time I experienced the reset issue, the watch was really lagging when starting a structured workout. After pressing start it took about 12 seconds to go to the activity screen.

My Suunto 9 crashed today before a walk and now the GPS won’t connect.

most likely the AGPS data is missing. a sync with SA should fix that… or long time waiting at one position in start screen

@chargerunner Exact same behavior has happened to me sporadically since sometime middle of december(since last fw update 2.23.20).

Activity starts but within first minute the screen goes black and watch reboots. Starting activity again takes a bit longer to lock gps but then works as expected.

For me it has happened intermittently about ~4 times out of ~50 activities. Activity types has been running(custom sport mode), biking(custom sport mode) and walking(default sport mode).

@smedberg I suspect it’s a known issue caused by the last firmware update or by the Suunto apps. There are too many people experiencing the same thing for it to be anything else. Hopefully there will be a fix for it soon.

Same thing happened to me twice in the last few weeks. Once during a race!

I knew we’d get some new unexpected ‘features’ with the new software; we always do! 😂

It’s shocking that this sort of thing does not get caught by the V&V. Assuming any SW V&V actually does take place. I wonder how many months it’ll be before we get the fix for this one! 🙄

                                    Hi Suunto team!
I want to share my experience and report the issue even if it’s known.

My S9B crashed in November after 30 minutes of activity.
This morning my S9B crashed again within seconds of starting. The GPS was locked before I pressed start.
I selected S+ Burner for this activity.

After the crash, my watch was not able to lock the GPS for 20min…

                                    I hope it’s help.

@Wilson75 after the crash it may be because the agps data was deleted during the reboot. So I could imagine, it’s normal.

@DMytro Perhaps, but 20mins to lock the GPS is strange. In my case, it might take up to 1 min to lock the GPS (after the crash) or the watch simply doesn’t restart at all😂

Yes, whatever your watch has agps or not, it should not take 20mins, it’s definitely a bug.

Without AGPS data my watches sincronice GPS in 1-2mins as maximum time.
                                            20min seems very very strange.
