Suunto 9 Peak Pro 2.44.48 Beta Test
-
@pomah86 nope not the first one : there has been a few ones recently but they have been followed very quickly by public fw release
-
@pomah86 If you look at my posts a little earlier in this thread youāll see that tech support acknowledged that there was a known issue in the fw 243.2 release affecting stability. When they tell you āā¦rest assured this case is a top priority for us and most of our engineers are working hard to fix itā, then a couple of months go by, a new fw (beta) release comes out and you see the issue has carried over to the new release, itās not difficult to become a bit cynical when it comes to oneās level of confidence that known bugs will actually be fixed.
That said, Iāve rolled back my fw and will wait until a final, supposedly stable, release comes out and continue to be hopeful that this issue will finally be resolved.
-
@Dareo which bug are you talking about? I can check if it is known or not
-
@isazi S9PP freezing up and requiring a soft reset. Itās happened while watching TV, dining out, sleeping, and training. Up to 7 soft resets on a nordic walking course! I have no idea what event(s) can be triggering it. Itās intermittent and unpredictable. Sometimes the watch will go a couple of weeks with no problems then there will be a 2 day period where itās nothing more than a bracelet due to it constantly freezing up.
This all started with the 243.12 release. Soft and hard reboots donāt help. A couple of times when rebooting thereās been a message on the watch saying āReturning the watch to a stable stateā, then an hour later it will freeze up again.
I installed 2.44.48 Beta hoping to see it fixed but it wasnāt. Since the Beta also had some other issues I figured Iād just revert to 240.44 which was the last stable version that didnāt cause any problems on my watch. However, when I went to select an OTA package in debug mode 240.44 wasnāt available and it would only let me revert to 243.12 which is where the problems started.
-
@Dareo sounds more like a faulty watch than a bug, I would contact support if I was you
-
@Dareo Hello. I havenāt experienced this behavior on my 9PP.
-
@isazi I contacted tech support on 9 July explaining this issue and saying that I didnāt know if it was a problem with the watch or the latest FW release and this screen grab of the conversation with tech support left me believing it was a fw issue:
Perhaps I need to contact them again.
-
@Highlands Lucky you. When it started happening I posted a message on the 243.8 / 12 release in this forum asking if anybody else had been experiencing the problem but it seems nobody did. Thatās why I initially thought it could be a problem with the watch, but then the online chat with tech support indicated it was a fw issue which is why Iāve been patiently waiting for a fix.
-
@isazi Would you recommend that I contact tech support again via the online chat function or directly contact support by phone here in Spain?
-
@isazi can you check if the bugs I reported are known please?
- Continuous pulse vibration when navigating (not in activity) on a route at 50m zoom level
- Touchscreen bug in navigation, where using it moves the burger menu rather than the page
- Resources reset to 70% on crossing a timezone
-
@Dareo Hello, Dareo. My previous post was meant to help you when you re-try convincing Support that the problem might be due to hardware problem. Hopefully, your issue gets resolved asap. Good luck.
-
@Highlands Thanks! Have a great day.
-
Thanks to everyone who tested the beta.
Based on your feedback, this firmware version wonāt be released to all users. We couldnāt reproduce every issue you reported, but for the ones we did, weāll work on fixes and hope to share another beta version in the future.
-
@pavel.samokha Upps. Well, as a 9PP user, I find it a shame. Iām really looking forward to the new features. But well, I prefer a stable operating system to new features. However, I really hope they continue working on updates for our model. Fingers crossed.
-
@enriqueescoms itās a beta after all.
-
@pavel.samokha Even while my Watch was reseted on install, I did not have much hassel with this beta. So I think about keeping it until a final version arrives or should I be worried about something?
Thanks for keeping us updated and deploying this beta test in advance!

This update hasnāt introduced any defect to my S9PP. Since Iāve been now using it for 2 years, I want to take the chance to celebrate with a quick recap of improvements and issues:
- Notifications: since the 2.44.48 update it seems that some notifications are not received; also, instead of seeing the text of a whatsapp message, I often just see āChecking for new messagesā, but this has been going on since I changed phone (Android for Android) a few months ago.
- Battery: no changes since last update. In general my battery used to last around 20 days until the HRV readings where introduced in December 2023, now it goes about 10 days.
- Climb Guidance: as I reported elsewhere, on a 47 km trail run I wasnāt sure that the zoom option (upper button) correctly shifted from one waypoint to another (as explained here: https://forum.suunto.com/post/173960) but I need to test it again. Otherwise the feature is great! Iām also not sure about a customisable data field in the dedicated screen, was it mentioned somewhere or am I completely wrong?
- Live location S+: I donāt really use it but Iām happy this app has been developed. It doesnāt always connect for me, but when it does, it works well.
- Sensors: I only use a chest strap and there are no issues. The āconnectedā notification at the beginning of an activity is a bit intrusive, but nothing terrible.
I stopped using HRV readings, sleep tracking and daily HR some time ago, so I canāt really judge.
Iāve been very happy with this watch for 2 years now, it has been improved a lot since then and most important, it never ever crashed or caused significant errors. I wish every device I buy was like this! -
@pavel.samokha Have you fixed the issue when random watches factory reset after update?
-
@Ecki-D. said in Suunto 9 Peak Pro 2.44.48 Beta Test:

Yes, you can continue using this version as long as it suits you
