[Feature request] Suunto Run Spotify intergration
-
Hi all,
The title says it all. Sorry if this has already been posted before.
The Suunto Run currently supports MP3 playback, but it would be amazing to be able to connect a Spotify account and sync playlists and podcasts, like some Garmin watches allow.
Having MP3 support is better than nothing, of course, but I’m not sure how many people actually use it. Managing and legally downloading MP3s is just not very convenient these days, especially when most people already have their music and podcasts on streaming services.
Spotify support would make the watch much more useful for running without a phone.
Thanks!

@benjaminb Hi, Spotify is useless with Garmin, only problems with it. The best choice as always is headphones and a phone.

@MarTej_cz Hi, I’m actually using Spotify on my Garmin and, while the experience isn’t perfect, it’s been quite decent for me and I haven’t had any major issues.
But anyway, I’m not really comparing Garmin and Suunto here. Even if Spotify integration isn’t great on Garmin, that doesn’t mean it can’t be done well. I’d just love to see Suunto offer a proper Spotify integration that works well.
It’s 2026 after all, I feel like we should be able to make a watch and a third-party service like Spotify work nicely together

How will suunto make a good Spotify integration that will work well, if it can’t build into its watches the basic functions that users have been asking for for years, or if what it already has works without bugs?

For me the “problem” is… well actually it’s me.
I had a garmin with spotify integration. The problem is, when I start a run, that is the moment I realize I had to switch playlists. So end up listening to the same songs over and over again. It’s like the car I used to have with a multi cd player. Only when I got in the car I realized I had to finally swap cd’s.
Downloading songs was so slow. Given how extremely slow downloading maps is on a Suunto I don’t think a Suunto watch will be any faster than the garmin was. All in all, it wasn’t a great experience.
Besides that, I only listen to music on long run nuns and I always have my phone with me on those. And I mainly like to listen to hardcore dj sets while running (streaming from soundcloud).
All in all, my personal preference is that Suunto developers spend their time on other things.
