@zhang965 To be the “flagship” product is no quality definition for the product itself, especially for some user groups of. It’s a marketing term. I’s not “negative” or “positive” to be the flagship product, but it has the meaning, that this is (for now) the company’s “best” and “way leading” product.

Con: OHR not usable while cycling or kayaking, because of false readings
I don’t get it, OHR is not the only option right? It has chest belt as solution right? Has Dimitrios Threaded you with a gun to use ohr ?

WHR -> Perhaps for those that want to know 24/7 data, although I understand that atm you can only see it on the watch which is kinda not complete.
And running sometimes at hot temps (that it works well) without a strap and having then later that tan line (Strap user here)For me the WHR cannot be a con
And free speech (and the forum rules) allows you to say so!

Of course it has quality definition, how about to call s5 as flagship ?

Of course I can use a chest belt. But my Mi Band 4 is able to show the correct heart rate with OHR during cycling. 35 Euro vs. 500 Euro.

Maybe a misunderstanding: I’m sure that each companies flagship product should have also outstanding quality, but the combination of features!!/price!/quality!! and the business orientation define for a company which product they position as their “flagship” product. The flagship product shall tell the costumer which is the way the company is going to and which product is the manifestation of this way right now

I agree with you about you the ohr on s9 is a totally joke but it’s just an option

… but built in and charged … and part of this special model which we are talking…

This is not the point. A 500 Euro watch should be able to read the heart rate on the wrist as it is possible with a cheap fitness tracker.
-
What’s the point? They even don’t put firstbeat features on s9 which is. 500euros watch , s3 5 have these features!
They don’t care

ohr on s9 is a totally joke but it’s just an option
I would use ohr as an option only and would rely on the chest strap at first… at least until ohr convinced me that it is better… but with gloves skiing, I can imagine ohr meets its limits…

they want you to buy the entire s-line

Why do “they” not care, when did “they” promise such?

So why ohr is a con?
-
@zhang965
because it works not as well as chest strap? …it’s not really a con… it’s just like the backup camera in the car that only works every now and then -
The first time(s) when I use my s9, I was shocking,
The gps was horrible
The ohr was horrible,But I’m getting more and more comfortable with it now,
bob ross said There are no mistakes, just happy accidents.The gps accuracy gives me a lot of surprises that I begin to enjoy it.
Ohr never mind, I’ll never use it.
-
@zhang965
do you get used to it because human gets used to everything or do you learn how to “read” it? -
@zhang965 said in Pros/Cons of Suunto 9 BARO * ONLY * be fair and polite!:
So why ohr is a con?
- con: WHR, what for? If I need reliable HR than I NEED a strap, if not - then I don’t need to know my HR anyhow, especially if I’m training by power zones.
What is a HR shown good for, if it’s wrong (not completely, but if you are wrong +/-5 HR beats near LTHR, it MAKES a difference), too late (interval training, >5secs) or not working at all (swimming) and absolutely unusable for HIIT based on HR (response too much lag)
For (more or less) steady pace runs, to have some indications where on your personal the HR scale you are: OK, this works.
