Spartan update complains
-
Since I bought the Spartan, I only saw features being taken away from it (calendar, POI, …). I’m outraged and dissapointed in the decission Suunto is taken. I still believe they have great hardware, but the software is cripling it. Even now they’re deciding to go “mainstream” with a crowd having lower demands, they won’t accept unfinished/underdevelopped software on a brand new watch.
In short, I bought a garmin watch for my girlfriends birthday. Chances are I’ll be making the switch in the future. That’s the result of not supporting my older Suunto Ambit 3S, killing movescount (not replacing it) and downgrading my new Suunto spartan sport whr.
-
We’re again some time further. Now I’m going on a trip and need to enter POI in middle of the woods with coordinates. It’s not possible…
Still no POI, training plan, … features that it had are now gone.Fool me once… next one will not be a suunto anymore.

@Droro The Spartan is crying for a watch face that can display the barometric pressure or at least Bro trend for the last 12 hours. Let’s make some noise

Not to make you sad, but it’s very probable (almost sure) that the Spartans won’t receive any new FW feature in the future
-
@sartoric Thanks for confirming that! Currently I have the Vector, core , Traverse Alpha ans recently added the Spartan Hr Baro and most likely add the 7 I collect them and use them based on my trip requirement. Love the Suunto design and more importantly love the Finnish people
-
@sartoric But the software for that part is probably the same in S9 and Spartan. I think that would not be the problem for testing, rather would make us SSWHR Baro owners happy
-
@bbx100
I’m not saying it can’t be done. I’m just saying it probably won’t -
@bbx100 thanks for the positivity, Suunto go to really treat older watches with more TLC if not customers are going to switch to another brand if updates aren’t pushed to improve and enhance the UI and features!
-
@Prenj I agree to 100% unbelievably sad…
-
Unfortunatly all the brands do the same thing
-
it’s so peaceful today…
hello guys, are you still there?

@zhang965
yep, we are complaining elsewhere We are populating happy users posts -
My Spartan hangs and freezes after the last update and Suunto don’t care!!! My workouts are being lost as I need to reset the watch, Suunto don’t care. The support takes approximately one week between every answer in a ticket, they don’t care. Been a customer for many years but they don’t care. I wonder how a perfect Suunto customer looks like? It can hardly be someone participating in virtual races or endurance sports such as triathlon, Swimrun, marathon etc.
//Sad long time customer who just want my hardware working…
-
I completely understood your situation, I have also a problem with my spartan, the GPS fix takes minutes, sometimes even an hour. I wrote to the support they told me I need reflash firmware and it helps but after some weeks problem back. Even if I make GPS location and save as a cache. Also after the last update, they broke something in the swimming watch face (I am using the default one) hart rate it’s not showing on the ring in the main screen of the swimming face it’s gray and it’s stayed gray until I finished my activity, I tried to configure some manually but that also won’t work and at the end, there is no heart rate zone available in the saved activities. (I am using Suunto belt)
Support has really great job, their process looks like that:
Customer request/Complaining -> Reset watch -> otherwise Reflash firmware <lol> International Professional Company, <lol2>, even they can deliver any feature from the beginning to the end, almost all it’s has been delivered in partially…and yap, it’s my frustration even after those all yers they offer me 10% of discount for new product <lol>

really ?

@JonasJkp I had a Spartan for a long time but no longer. I did not have this issue. Have you attempted a hard reset? You should be able to sync your workouts to SA. Once they are synced a hard reset will require you to redo your zones etc. But you should not lose any workouts as long as they transferred.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos yes, really. I’ve already requested a ticket to support, what I got was reset the watch to the default. No one asks me about logs etc… you don’t need to comment on things that are obvious.
-
@Michał-Rudzki I have many friends that dont have such an issue. Are your AGPS up to date?
There are plenty of people I know personally and we run each Sunday that dont have such an issue.
There is nothing wrong there, and I am expecting that your watch:
- Either reboots and you dont sync with the app
- Either you forget to sync AGPS
-
I record at least 3 activities a week with gps and I never had such an issue.
Well, in fact I had it once, because of a soft reset and the watch had no data connection, so no AGPS. It tooks 5/10 minutes to do the fix and get satellites.… you don’t need to comment on things that are obvious.
Oh, maybe I shouldn’t have replied
-
@Michał-Rudzki
Just to try to help also
I also have a Spartan, and GPS is found very quickly, except if :
1- AGPS data are not there (after a reboot they disapear and sync with SA is mandatory (and check again data are there with proper date))
2- AGPS data are old enough to delay the fix (regular sync with SA is needed)
3- trying to fix far away from previous GPS fix and watch need more time to fix
4- trying also to get a fix while moving (driving a car, etc…)If you are not in these case (my cases ) then either your unit is faulty or something we have not think about (like some magnet gloves = just a joke)
[edit] : but fixing during one hour
