No-Map-Problem
-
I think this will be fixed in a firmware update. I am not having problems with maps at all (Western Canada), but sure sometimes when Im scrolling I get the odd gridlines for a second or 2, and then the full map shows.
From my perspective, the map is there, just needs to speed up the processing of the rendering.
It is like issues with my previous Garmin Fenix 6X or my Coros Vertix 2 - for those devices it was just lag time or slow. For Suunto, its way faster to move the map around, but some slight hesitation getting the full map onscreen.
-
@mikekoski490 Unfortunately I can’t say the same. I do have found some area’s that didn’t render at all. Not even after a while. Zooming out to 500m showed the area but every other zoomlevel causes the area to disappear and show a grid.
In this case an overview of the route upfront would be great so an incidental error could be fixed
-
@surfboomerang Hmmm…it does sound like the ‘map’ data is there though, but the Vertical software needs a tweak to deal with the info?
-
@mikekoski490 yes, I think data are there, because I had the same issue and after soft reset it worked OK. I was biking 5 days in Dolomites (Italy) and it was very random if I see a map or just grid when I switch the screen to map. On the other hand on Sunday (after soft reset) I had 9 hours no problem with map, but I deactivated second S+ app.

@Jan-Krejčí I saw your message. Please provide lat long and region downloaded.
Thank you !
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Hi I had the same issue in Sweden. Do you want the long & lat for this as well?
-
@helgonet12 yes

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos sent you a PM

@Jan-Krejčí I had the same issue on bike and I had feeling it is not map related, as these missing tiles were fully randomly. could you try the same place after soft reset?
i had this for France : map working one day, not working another day and softreset make it rework right after. It never happen since then though.
-
@Mff73 I’m curious…how do you do a soft reset? Just curious in case I do have map issues. I only know simple power off or reset all settings.
-
@mikekoski490 keep the upper right button pressed until the watch restarts
-
@mikekoski490
like @surfboomerang said, but don’t be surprised, keeping upper right button will first scroll up accross all sports modes but at the end the watch is restarting (still need as usual for a first sync with SA for AGPS download) -
Damn you are a nice guy.
If we were you, I’d say keep you vertical like this and it gets 8% chance to reboot itself
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos sent you PM, thanks

Hi everyone,
unfortunately I also have an issue with the map.
In a very small area I can see the map, but this is only around the place where I live.
Any ideas to fix this?
The area is Cologne, Regierungsbezirk Köln, Germany
Thank you so much,
Björn! -
@Björn-Twittmann I had exactly the same problem,during a bike training, map was empty excepted near my home. Then I stopped watch (Parameters --> General --> Stop Watch) and started again the Watch. It solved the problem.
-
@Enrique-0 Thank you so much for helping me. Now it works.
All the best to you and many thanks,

Since I received my vertical, maps where at beginning working pretty well.
Since then, I have had more and more maps areas that where not displayed.
Around my place there where first just ok, few days ago certain areas and scales where not visible anymore, and tonight nothing was displayed.
I m not very worried (Also because I don’t need maps those days), but I’d like it to work again properly. I’ve tried soft reset but no results.
I’ve tried to stop watch like proposed by @Enrique-0 and it’s seems ok now.
What leads me to that point : is it like a sort of « cache memory saturation » that could happen when too much maps have used ?(don’t know how to say that properly) -
@Tieutieu for information, map problem happened again for me today during a bike training I was not happy at all because I bought Vertical watch for 2 reasons : autonomy and maps ! (and this is not my first Suunto). Then I didn’t want to restart my watch during the bike session, so I decided not to display the map, an later during the session the bike session stopped alone on the watch ! (I specify that the watch is attached to the handlebars and I touched nothing !!!) I was quite disappointed, so my bike session was recorded in two different parts
All for my point of view this sounds like a bug…
I wonder if I shoudn’t restart my watch before each sport sessions using GPS where I could need map displaying… -
