Thanks! Done. You would think a Finnish manufacturer would get this setup out of the box… Polar has every type of ski activity defined in their basic setup. Let it snow!

@ChrisA it might take days, because I charged them today. But I need the watch because I train regularly P.S. Suunto disappoint me more and more for the last month - unsuccessful 2.39.20 and now this.

@Mff73 I tried today at the gym with walking mode and it showed normal heart rate. Also cross-training mode worked normally. Gym mode worket well first few minutes and when my heart started beating faster, watch began to show as it was getting slower. When I waited for a moment without doing anything, heart rate started slowly rise. I use the same t-shirt I`ve been usin for three months.

@MKPotts I’m afraid you’re right. I had it on my S9 Peak and now on the Vertical so I assumed it would also be available on the S9 Peak Pro. The manual indeed doesn’t mention it.

@rjpb0731 I am also having the same issue with the original Suunto 9 Peak (not the pro) and it’s a new problem, I’ve had this watch several years without issue. There is a bug in the App apparently that will not accept the Sync from the watch, for both Birth Year, and Height too. Which is annoying, because I’m a short dude and the app is mockingly telling me I’m 5’11’'. My concern, is that the calorie calculations are now wrong. Please fix this right now

@zhang965 pppp even. It’ll be so awesome that we can skip ppp altogether. The problem with backlight being always on is how bright it is. I used standby with no rise to wake in S5 which worked well. But I had to switch rise to wake each time before and after a workout, not something that I enjoyed. Also, in S5 when having standby on and rise to wake on, it engaged dim standby light outside the workout and full backlight during the workout. Which was bonkers.

@surfratt I think compared to the Peak Pro the screen of the Vantage V2 is quite similar but screen brightness is not the best in class with Suunto Watches. Where Suunto shines is creating routes and transfer them onto your watch in a breeze. Polar is nowhere near this. You might miss the Webinterface, but I find the Suunto App extremely nice and polished and Suunto has (and still does) put a lot of effort in it, like the new Coach feature. And - compared to Polar - your training screens can have way more data fields and information.

@Brad_Olwin That’s my plan actually, I will make an activity each day and not keep it running all the time. I can easily understand that would be problematic when transferring the file. As you say, measuring HR will decrease the battery life, but on the same time I would say GPS draws even more power. In Tour mode the watch turns everything off and lowers the GPS accuracy to low and data logging for that to 30 min intervals. In Custom mode, you can’t even turn the GPS to that low setting, there is only Best and Good as alternatives and I feel like the Custom setting is a bit redundant as you can’t really affect almost anything in there. An example, my watch has now 50% of battery left, Performance gives me 19h, Endurance 30h, Tour 199h and 31h, so Endurance and Custom settings are almost identical in battery life. Only difference I can make is if I want to shut down the display after 10s or not, that gives the extra 1h. And from that you can also see how huge difference in battery lifetime the GPS setting makes. I am very glad of the presets, they give you already a good base point on what you want to do, but I feel that giving a custom setting as possibility should really have something that would make a difference and really feel like a custom setting. Also, in the settings of the activity, you already have a separate place where you can manually switch wrist HR on/off if you want what ever the setting is, only difference is the Tour mode, that completely takes that option out. Looking at this now more thoroughly, I would say there is two possible, quite easy solutions to make this work better. Keep the wrist HR setting available on all preset battery settings. When switching to Tour mode the setting could turn off that, but if you want, you could manuallu turn it on. Add low GPS mode to the custom setting (I think this should be even easier to add) This would then allow for a more specific “Trail” mode", HR available if you want, GPS settings as high or low as you want, Bluetooth off and a lot more battery life when on the hike.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel Thanks for the hint. In the App settings (in iOS) I changed location to always (not when using the app) and now it seems to work. Easy to understand: it is impossible to update the weather if the location is unknown. @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos: it might be maybe useful to remind that in the manual if it is not present. J
