@tinten.addi Hi everyone! I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and more and more I feel that the main problem is not really that we don’t know when an update will be released, but rather that there is absolutely no official communication on whether there will be an update at all, and if so, what direction it will take, what it will focus on. I’m strictly referring to Suunto’s official communication here. For example, when it comes to diving functions, is the main goal to eliminate bugs, or is there talk of further development as well? And even if there won’t be further development, does Suunto’s diving team (I assume there is one) actually incorporate logical, practical suggestions made by other divers and users into development? When it comes to sports modes, it’s also missing that—although understandably later due to the above reasons—the watch eventually receives the functions that other models already have, as well as the practical suggestions being added here too. This would be completely reasonable, and I assume this does in fact happen in the background. Any other direction would likely result in users abandoning the model. But since there is basically no official communication on anything—just leaks, or us bothering the moderators here, who obviously can’t say more than what’s official—what remains is user imagination filling the gap. And that brings with it everything: worries, mentions of other brands, doubts, and so on. This actually spoils the otherwise positive user experience. If I could suggest something to Suunto, my humble suggestion would be to provide at least some information from time to time. Even if there is no exact release date, an official confirmation that an update is being worked on, what areas it will cover, and where it currently stands would already help a lot. There would probably still be some dissatisfaction, but much less. And if the directions also matched what I wrote earlier, those who use the watch for its functionality wouldn’t now be thinking about which brand to switch to. As for the semi-official communication about delays—namely “safety first”—that line wears thin after a while. It’s fair to ask: if the manufacturer can’t manage to make sleep tracking in the app complete, or if buggy watch faces occasionally appear (some disappearing, others remaining), then how can they convincingly claim to handle safety issues? So here and now, I’d like to offer Suunto my help in organizing their communication strategy in this area… Maybe things would improve.

I have the same problem, but with Suunto Ocean. Sunto Tank Pod DP173 not showing up. ‘No Tank Pod fouind’ message. However, I also have a Suunto VyperNovo, and there its found, I see first the code and then the gas pressure. So it seems more something with the Suunto Ocean not recognizing it than with the TankPod. Any ideas? @Deniz Did you have your problem fixed? Thanks

Hey, I know this post is kind of old, and I might be a bit nosy replying here. However, I was hesitant to disable my security options for Core Isolation since it’s there for a reason, and it was causing the error Code 39. I found a solution that worked for me and created another thread with a step-by-step tutorial. The key is to update the USB Serial Converter driver without modifying the port driver. This also prevents the issue where SuuntoLink doesn’t detect the device at all —something Raimo Järvi mentioned—because SuuntoLink (as well as DM5) only communicates with the port driver, which works well with the updated Serial Converter. I hope this solution helps anyone who comes across this old post! https://forum.suunto.com/post/163005 Have a great day!

@Alfred-Stoppels in your case you should use type B, base on your picture. However, adapters are not standard, except the thread. Thus these restrictors may not function well. In this case try this one: Restrictor for AI transmitter

Hi @noppanut15, your project sounds fantastic! To help you expand depthviz’s compatibility, I recommend focusing on parsing FIT, SDE, and XML files first, since these are the most commonly exported formats from Suunto devices, including the Suunto Ocean. You might want to use open-source FIT parsers (like FitSDK or fitdecode) and analyze sample SDE/XML structures to build robust import logic. Also, reaching out in freediving and Suunto forums with a quick upload form (Google Form or GitHub issue template) might increase contributions. Keep up the great work—this tool could be a real game-changer for the freediving community!

@yetanotherdeveloper Now, it worked well! Thanks a lot! The mistake I made (due to German Windows 11 installation) is that I did not understand where to explicit select the inf file and “connect” it to the “USB Serial Converter”. When selecting “Update Driver” do not select “Durchsuchen…”, but the link below “Aus einer Liste verfügbarer Treiber…” - sorry for writing the German “commands”, but I do not exactly know the English translation on Windows -> see my screen shots! [image: 1754391391441-afbc1d8f-1b59-4b6a-b4fe-29ca90acf63b-image.png] Select “Datenträger”: [image: 1754391417387-80b57f4d-12c1-4e33-9eb2-742db3212010-image.png] Selectg “Durchsuchen …” [image: 1754391438592-3e054602-2f54-4e69-a0bd-dd19db8a0552-image.png] Select the ftdibus.inf file: [image: 1754391465477-92742bf2-7b03-4d16-a5e7-c73d192a53cf-image.png] Click OK and select the “USB Serial Converter”: [image: 1754391512420-65c8256c-2aeb-4cf5-a518-da499fb624df-image.png] A Update warning will be displayed: Ignor it (press “Yes”) [image: 1754391547511-ffd13eab-e3fc-440c-910b-27d9c0be0191-image.png] Done! This is my classic chat support dialog, this one is from today, but essentially they are exactly the same. [image: 1699010559877-e11ef965-3555-4e29-ab60-44e8b74438e6-image.png] And they even don’t know where my D5 is now. [image: 1699010579528-e4ac156b-c047-4058-924f-b4c197ed5593-image.png] And after that they told it is in the one of the finnish service, (it is listed on suunto service locator site) I called there - they told they haven’t received anything by mail. My guess they lost it somewhere.

@Mikael said in Suunto Solution (1992 year dive computer): Hello Community I have an working Suunto Solution and also the data interface for it, but this uses RS232 not supported by any PC today. Are there any modern interface to transfer data from it? Have anyone built one, e.g. by Arduino? Are any interface specs available/public to support a modern build? Mikael I know there are RS232-USB adapters, it could be what you’re looking for.

Adding recent news to my own question: Garmin recently released their X50i dive computer. A Garmin exec confirmed that they are leaving the watch-sized dive computer market and will only focus on full size dive computers going forward. Perhaps Apple Watch Ultra is a really hard to beat in the wrist-sized computer market. I wonder if Sunnto is working on an answer to the X50i.
