@fritzbt2013 I have the same problem with my Race S. Its too slow to be usable for me, about 1 Second counted from lifting the arm My workaround is to activate it with the back of my hand, touching (not pushing) the crown. It has a secret touch sensor there, but I think it only works with lift to wake off. And maybe AOD on, at least thats my setting

@MS_1998 you could use just manual laps, or you can use the Suunto + app for hill reps which gives you a bit more specific hill info both during the activity and after. I.e, on each rep you can see your average GAP, altitude gain and instant HR, and after the end of the rep I think it’s a summary of altitude gain, time taken, GAP, average HR as well as HR currently during the recovery.

This is my second day wearing a newly purchased Race S. Same issue, unfortunately. As I sit here and type, the heart rate reading is 88. There is no way this can be real, as my usual range is somewhere between 55 to 68. This afternoon, I also tested exercise, and the HR monitor reading was all over the place; before I warmed up, it showed 120+, while my Apple watch read 60-70, and in the middle of exercise, it stopped getting my HR. The green light was blinking; however, it was in exercise mode. I tried removing and re-attaching, resetting, and the trick of toggling on/off 24/7 monitoring; I really wanted to love this watch, but now I am in doubt. I hope this is a bug that can be fixed by update. I will give it another week and decide if this is a return as well.

I don’t have this issue - in the widget menu and when you access the HR widget I see a second or 2 where it’s “measuring” and then I see a pretty accurate value. I do have 24/7 HR enabled. I’ve not tried having an HR complication visible on a watch face but I can’t imagine it would work differently. I did used to see this behaviour on my 5 Peak, though, because it took time to fire up the HR sensor and get a stable measurement. The 5 Peak only used to sample the HR every 10mins.

Update for the light sensor: If you have the sun on the side you wear the watch (like running west at noon if you are wearing it left) the light sensor adapts very well. Maybe even overadapting to the sun, the AOD is really bright in this cases. Running back east (watch is not in direct sunlight) it is underadapting and very hard to read. So I think light sensor and display could do a lot better if this algorithm is tweaked a little bit to respond better to daylight

It’d be neat if the intensity zones would at least work in the way that if you enable them for your workout, it’d default to the zone you last used, instead of Zone 3. A little thing but still.

Thanks @Bastienhere, I had assumed the behavior would be similar to Suunto 9 and I was socked when I noticed the LEDs never switch off

I found that mine didn’t record for 1 night because it was charging for a while / off my wrist for a while, and since the OHR and the sensor lights weren’t on. I turned off and turned back on and it fixed it

@tran-thang came back to suunto after a few years of garmin with race s. It is indeed a drawback to not know in which lap you are. Am i going to suffer the next 10 minutes or is everything all over.

@timecode …and some users report that no matter how many runs they’ve done they’ve never seen VO2max. I’ve had Vertical for 1,5 years and I don’t have it. (Well Cooper test S+ app gives me an estimation but still after all this time my Vertical keeps telling me to record one outdoor run in order to get insights about my fitness). The last sw update was supposed to make VO2max appear more easily, but no-one bothered to define the minimum requirements. I’ve tried with and without Suunto Smart belt. I’ve waited for a decent GPS fix before starting. I’ve tried running for 15 mins until exhaustion and I’ve tried to take it easier for an hour or so. Still nothing. This is the moment when people usually start asking about my zone definitions… And then other people tell me to forget about VO2max because it is useless. Sigh. My HR max is 185 (a few clicks higher than what I’ve seen in real life while taking it to the limit). My resting HR is 65 and the other limits in between are the watch defaults. Age 55, 187 cm tall and 125 kg. This is my only major disappointment with Vertical, considering how easy it used to be with S9B’s old algorithm.

Suunto It only shows next waypoint, next waypoint. It does NOT show turn left, or turn right. what is the problem? Befor recent update all worked fine and now it’s useless distraction
