@sracer agree. My biggest annoyance after the charger, which thankfully you don’t need very often is the lack of font sizes. I think I can only give one watch face with seconds on it I can read without glasses ‍️ Do love the vertical, had it over a year now and it has been my companion for many hours and miles but wish they would consider older folk with font size‍️

@Egika said in Race S Tempting Me Back Into Suunto...: @VoiGAS yes, he was referring to battery saving mode. Back in Ambit times, the low power GPS indeed was not really accurate. You could select between 1s, 5s and 60s fix rate. Yes, it was the 5s mode. Down in the canyons it started to glitch measuring the distance really long and by the end of the race it was doubling the distance, consistently adding 0.01 mile for every 10 steps. Somehow it ended up adding distance from GPS and distance from accelerometer together, which resulted in doubling the distance. Ambit wasn’t as accurate as people think. Yes, at the time it was one of the most accurate watches - thanks to its large GPS antenna. But recently I compared an Ambit 3 Peak track from some years ago against a recent track from Garmin Fenix 7X recorded with multi-band mode. The difference was like day and night - Garmin with dual band was so much more accurate around curves and switchbacks following the trail perfectly. I also think that the Airoha GNSS chipset that was used in Fenix 7 is more accurate than the new Sony chipset used in Race S. The distance is similar, in fact Suunto Race S distance tends to be a tiny bit longer, but Garmin’s track seems to be more precise. Unfortunately Garmin seems to have switched to the new Sony chipset too.

@lessthanmore interesting, So even the titanium version has the same ‘issue’! Definitely not ideal… I hope Suunto knows about this one.

@Hadrien-Mossmann This has already been discussed many times. Race works only with the Suunto app. Locking to avoid duplicates.

I managed to resolve it without reset to factory and without clearing cache and data of the Bluetooth app. I did (not sure of the exact order): Remove old Suunto watch (Spartan Trainer) from the device list in the App Delete Suunto App data/cache (I wanted to unpair the watch from the phone but did not find it in the Bluetooth list(?). Maybe it unpaired when clearing the App data or I misremember.) Turn off Bluetooth on the Phone Unpair (forget) MobileApp on the watch (Settings - Connectivity - Paired devices) Turn off discovery on the watch (Settings - Connectivity - Discovery) Log into app Pair watch again (turn on Bluetooth and Discovery first) Most likely not all of those steps are required but I would rather not have more opportunities to figure out which ones are.

@Yurii-Hultiaiev here may be the explanation @pavel-samokha said in Suunto Vertical won’t update from 2.30.38 to recent update: There was technical issue in the cloud, please try again

Could you tell me if it’s possible to connect the Suunto Race S to a Concept2 rowing machine via Bluetooth?

Coros Apex 2 has maps on an MIP display that has the exact same size as Suunto 9 Peak/Pro. I’ve used it and it works really well. There is no point at all in saying that the display is too small or the MIP resolution is not high enough for it. If it was possible to upload routes to a Coros watch when being offline, I would possibly switch to an Apex 2 now. This feature is something I really appreciate in Suunto watches.
