I’ve owned the 9PP for several years and never had issues, however the HR has stopped tracking in the middle of the night twice this week reporting an hour or two of sleep. I’m on v2.50.28 Thanks for the help

@Elipsus said in 9PP Appreciation in 2026 / Things to fix before it's orphaned: it’s a really nice minimalist design and great functionality combo (that unfortunately doesn’t seem to exist “anywhere else” including in other brands) Yes, this has me worried enough to consider purchasing a second 9PP as a backup. I agree with you that the design and functionality are just about perfect. I doubt we’ll ever see another fully-featured, minimal, MIP-based watch like it again, from Suunto or any other brand. The Coros Apex 4 was a nice MIP surprise, but I can’t get on with their design language. and the battery life is definitely not 20 days anymore Yeah, that ship sailed when the software moved to 24/7 HR recording. When the 9PP was first released, it recorded at 10 minute intervals, which saved a ton of battery. Personally, I find the daily HR readings meaningless, so I switch it off during the day. I turn it back on at night if I want to record sleep. Seems to add a few days to the battery life.

Suunto please look into this. Give an option to turn off buzz on connect maybe? I’m getting a bunch on my new PP9 and seem to have no reason for them. Supper wasn’t helpful

More than two years after the latest post (which wasn’t answered) I just had the same issue. Bought the S9PP end of last years as it was in sale and I thought meanwhile all SW Bugs should have been fixed. Send logs to Suunto. How to rely in that watch for things like Everesting? During the last three months three soft-resets were necessary. My son bought it about four weeks ago and in last week he deserted it four times. As said a few posts above: this is annoying

@mdavis121212 said in Using Suunto Progress: @Brad_Olwin Well I wanted to do Mt Rainer but that’s not going to happen at my age. lol. I want to go faster at Century rides. Why Not!!! I have skied Rainier but many, many years ago. I am nearly as old as you, 69. I have a 100 mile race with 23,000 feet vertical gain in June. I am not letting my age dictate what I can do. I would develop a good training plan for riding or get a coach if you need to. There is no reason you cannot build your fitness. So some good goals.

@Ecki-D. But to me, this is definitely a used battery issue, as if i switch on the watch for running, it will turn off instant.

Hi Hav you could fix your problem, either by resuming the downgrade again, or through upgrading to the latest sw version ? BR Jack

@Elipsus cannot speak for the service department, but if it just shut down from out of nowhere and the sensor stopped working that should be repairable.

Hi guys! I’m new here, made this forum just for this problem: Since the firmware update as you guys report 2.50.28 on my Race S I have big battery drain about 1% an hour even in airplane mode and the dumbest digital watch face. From some Chat GPT help I uninstalled offline maps, made a soft reset, factory reset, now I’m leaving it in airplane mode overnight to see. But it’s doesn’t look good, it already dropped from 74% at 18:45 to 71% 21:45.

@Elipsus when the watch connects / disconnects it will vibrate. But it shouldn’t do this outside of an activity. But there have been bugs about the whole connecting BT sensor thing…

@dbutkovic I have a S9PP. I’ve used a second one also. In my experience, although I really love everything else about the watch, it really struggles to maintain accurate heart rate readings when there is much arm movement. The only time I get consistently accurate readings is on a bike trainer or road bike. To manage this, I now use an optical HR arm band that pairs with the watch and works really well. Some people likely get better results with the watch than me. You probably already know all the optimization tips: wear it 2 cm above the wrist bone, make sure it is very snug etc. There are other posts talking about how to optimize OHR.

9PP resetted to standard watch face during the sync with Suunto app today. All downloaded watch faces in the 9PP deleted again. 🤬

Looks like Fusedalti was slowly moving towards the correct elevation for the first few circuits at least, then it’s more similar after.

@Jan-Elmqvist-Nielsen for me it helped to restart the app, a couple of time each week but it is a solution
