@dreamer_ I submitted a request to gain access to their smartwatch API. But it also seems that there is a non-zero probability that Suunto simply offer me to work for them

I fixed the issue, a few issues actually, and I wanted to share how i did it. I have notifications disabled for all apps by default on my Android 14 Pixel phone. All I did was enable notifications on the Suunto app and now everything is working. So that begs the question, why is Bluetooth functionality mixed up with notifications on Suunto app?

@Daniel-Schuster I Daniel ! Can you tel us more ? Are you using a hr belt and have you set properly you’re hr zones ? Otherwise can you check how your tss is calculated for your bike activities ? If « met » calculation for instance, it can overestimate the tss of your activities which are long ones, and then lead to « overtraining » even if you’re not I don’t really pay attention to recovery time but more to my ffitness level : is not because you have long recovery time announced by your watch that you need it. I would look to Ctl/tss…are you using it ? I do a lot of trail running and cycling too. Cycling is most of the time at lower intensity than running, so atl will reduce faster after cycling (The more you ctl I high the more you need tss (activity) to maintain it). For instance last Saturday I deed a long trail running race (yellow below) : recovery time announced for this activity was 120h but my fitness level is « high » so I was only in « productive phase » : I went cycling the day after (gently) as part of my training. [image: 1745908292305-img_5448.jpeg] So I would not care to recuperation time announced, more to fitness level section of the app, it’s far more accurate and should work fine for you. online ressources on Suunto.com

@Keep-It-Simple there’s nothing surrendered. Cloud storage is just the way this device works, as do many others. Get an older handheld GPS device if you don’t want cloud

@Nicolas-AULANIER 16Gb is plenty for maps… My wife has the Race (Steel / 16Gb) and we have the same maps loaded (I have the Vertical Ti / 32Gb). Although map sizes are different for different counrties etc. To give you an idea of how much you can hold with 16Gb. ALL - ITALY ALL - CROATIA ALL - AUSTRIA ALL - SLOVENIA ALL - NEW ZEALAND UTMB SECTION - FRANCE UTMB SECTION - SWITZERLAND The app makes it easy to download and set maps as needed. I quite like the approach. And the app automatically highlights the map closest to you, so you can adjust on the fly. The watch internal memory specified is only used for maps, so you can be confident that even 16Gb has you covered for even the biggest adventures.

@Jan-Suchánek I have small wrist too, 165mm, and coming from mechanical watches (daily was 39mm with 11mm) I thought I would find the Vertical too big for everyday use. It is bigger but really comfortable. I like how the Vertical wears.

@vinc14 Hi is this really the case that firmware updates can be enforced? I generally run away from any tech that forces updates vs letting user decide - as this is great segway to planned obsolescence. Is there a repository of previous firmwares? Can you use the watch without app activation? I am getting my Race Titanium tomorrow and would like to avoid jumping into the bad formware straight away.

@Stefano-M64 said in Matte screen protector: all depends on the kind of activity, if you do rock climbing, alpinism, canyoning… it’s pretty sure you’ll scratch your watch one day or another… Likely not many people here had a close “relationship” with a granite wall This. I’ve seen so many post on Samsung Galaxy watches and Garmin watches that has sapphire glass where people got a scratch or two asking how it’s possible. Sapphire do scratch too. Once it’s happened there’s nothing that can be done. Then again it’s less likely than other types of glass used on tech but still if the Mohs hardness is equivalent or greater than sapphire then it will scratch. You’re correct there too, high impact activities might give you a run for your money . But then again each to their own and everyone is entitled to their own opinion . I’m not too concerned and my use case was more to test the anti glare ability.

@Andrea-Paissan of course - if they offer this feature that is important for you - totally makes sense. I can confirm that this feature is not anywhere on the horizon.

@sigmart You should not have reboots, period! Next time a reboot happens send logs to Suunto as soon as you can. PM me and tell the time and date your logs were sent as well as your email username for logging into SA, no password, just email for your account. Also a brief description of what happened, I will send a bug report to Suunto. I assume you are on the updated OS?

@Egika in Suunto race shows active calories and total calories like Garmin. I tested Fênix 7 solar in my right wrist and Suunto Race on left and I can say steps from the day and calories are almost the same number, normally ,last 7 days average 3176 calories day on Suunto and 3180 on Garmin,21052 steps average on Suunto 20938 average on Garmin,so I think their algorithm is similar now. Ps. I don’t care about steps and calories, was just to say they count both, active calories and calories burned out of exercise
