I had the same problem with Race, but luckily not during activity, but randomly during the day. I returned them for repair and then sold them. I’ve had the Vertical for a few months and no problem so far.

@Olaf-Gottschalk My main activity is biking (trail / enduro) and I use OHR. It stops receiving HR literally every single ride. I’ve noticed that it stops when I make a short pause during a ride. It may be a traffic light or sip of water. Then OHR shows impossible low level for HR instead of real one. My solution is to remove watch from my wrist, clean the sensor and put it back on. It works for me (mostly). It takes some time - so maybe this is also a factor. But it is very annoying to have that kind of problem. I am forced to observe the watch to catch the moment when problem occurs. SUUNTO - please verify this case. And fix it please.

@Sportsfreund said in Suunto Race Crashed again mid ride... 🤮: @Olaf-Gottschalk Ist denn Suunto schon mal während einer Aktivität abgestürzt? Das hatte ich bisher noch nicht. Das war ja der Grund für meinen Beitrag… Ja. Schon mehrmals. Seit ich sie habe 3 mal…

@superweeble True VO2 can be only measured in the lab. Watches, calculators and formulas only give rough estimates: so you can see the trend not the real value.

This is a good point you bring up and I would like to follow to see if someone has a good suggestion. I find myself sometimes struggling to activate the raise to wake to brighten the display and would prefer to be able to quickly glance at the watch without an exaggerated raise to wake gesture

So, build a custom sport mode and/or structured workout. The whole thing about this watch is that it is customizable to your specific needs. If it doesn’t come with what you need you can customize it.

@Mff73 I reported some observations from different tests here: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/10353/strange-behaviour-with-garmin-hrm/13?_=1715781410812 My heart rate monitor is 3 years old but I have no reasons to think it works bad (it doesn’t with other devices). I believe that for me this high/low readings at the start of the activity happen mostly when I wear a synthetic windproof jacket, but also cheap synthetic t-shirts without the jacket (it’s getting warm now!) seem to cause this problem.

Hi @all! I just want to give a little feedback after a while. I was out on several longer mountaineering trips during the last weeks. The missing breadcrumb issue is solved imho. Thank you very much for fixing this, suunto vertical now was a perfect companion for all my trips and a worthy successor of my ambit peak 3. I can recommend it to everybody who is looking for a watch for mountaineering. Even one of my team mates noticed that the display works super good in bright sunlight. So I am super happy with it. If you use full gps and the map display most of the time ( which I usually do), battery lasts for about 25 hrs. So you can do one longer tour of 12-15 hrs + your way to the mountain hut the day before. If you want to do more trips in a row, it’s better to have the possibility to recharge (I have the non-solar version). But hey, that’s totally OK for me and I am happy that vertical now covers most of my needs. It is a good and powerful tool for mountaineering after the issues, I had with it during the first months of use, are now sorted out. So have fun with it!

@Olaf-Gottschalk Hmm - I am pretty close to your use level (24/7 an d10-15 hours a week recording. With an earlier device I would have issues near specific locations - not so much GPS issues, but total connectivity - I think folks in those areas had cell phone/RF blockers (illegal, but it was an interesting part of LA) and sometimes those are around LE or Mil installations. Do you issues crop up around the same geog area? just a WAG from my own experiences.

@Olaf-Gottschalk I do not think this is a huge problem, you may not have had a complete sync with the watch when you first looked at the app. It almost always does work in the background. The data are not “wrong” as your watch may have thought that you had woken up earlier, perhaps you were moving around in your sleep. Personally, I would take all of these metrics cautiously. If you are planning training based on what your watch is telling you IMHO you are entirely misguided. It is fine to use the information to help guide you but I believe nothing is better than your body and brain at making decisions regarding sleep, restfulness and your ability to exercise.

@logger i really don’t understand this. Having to turn off notifications every time you do an activity is just bad design. This is a super basic feature that every other watch company has. Suunto could probably implement it in a few hours as. I really don’t like notifications during activities. But I like them otherwise. And I don’t want to have to go back and forth all the time. It’s nothing like having to start an activity

@David-l said in Proposal to change UI for Suunto Race: I’d really like the ability to turn off vibration alert for notifications but still have it on for laps whilst in sport mode. Oh and be able to read the screen with just 2 data fields please seconding this: having the vibration on in sports mode is very useful, as when you train in quite noisy environments it’s quite difficult hearing beeps… It could be also useful having the possibility to change (most of the time: increase) the volume of sound alerts during sport modes.
