What Suunto has to change compared to Garmin’s Body Battery is the increase during recovery. The Body Battery during the day decreases; it’s just a matter of how fast. Only during naps it increases again. I mean, it’s logical, the more you are awake, the fewer resources you have. On the Suunto watch, you sit for like 15 minutes, and the resources start to increase again.

So I was running a race which took me little more than 20 hours. I saved it adrerwards, but could not sync immediately, because my BT was off and I had no wifi/mobile connectivity (remote location). When I wanted to do it, nothing got synchronized. I can see the move on SV in log without data in it, but weekly stats on the watch was showing correct distance and time. So is there any way to access this file on the watch or make it sync? I tried soft reset, but to no avail.

Since the latest software update, I’ve been having problems with the Bluetooth connection to my Stryd pod. I can only connect if I make the watch forget the pod and then reinstall it. Yesterday I replaced my old Wahoo heart rate strap with a Suunto Smart, and that only made things worse: now I can’t maintain a connection to both the strap and the pod at the same time. Has anyone experienced something similar?

@David-Kleman same problem for me. HR is only accurate for me during total rest (Sleeping, sitting still…). As soon as I move my arm or even only my fingers (typing on a keyboard), the HR increases slowly and locks to higher heart-rates. Sometimes even double the actual one. It almost instantly recovers if I take of my watch and put it back on or it slowly recovers over time if I do not move at all for approx. 1 minute. Not only the sensor is bad but also the algorithm seems to favour fast increases above fast decreases. Therefore, misreadings due to movement (high values) seem to establish quickly but correct (low) readings afterwards are ignored and HR recovers to correct values too slowly again which makes the bad accuracy even worse. I tried everything that is recommended for OHRs and never had these problems with my previous forerunner and vantages which were spot on for normal daily use and light activities like hiking or steady and slow running under easy conditions. Therefore, I never even dared to try the OHR during exercise since I anyway always use a HR strap during sport. As OHR readings during sleep are accurate, I in the end decided to stick with the Race S as the new Garmin alternatives are way too expensive. As daily tracking is so bad, recovery and resource metrics might not be as accurate as supposed but I see these metrics anyway more like a fun gimmick. But before ordering I never expected the OHR reading to be a problem during normal daily tracking as this was never an issue with any other watch from other brands over the last years. Probably would have not ordered it had I known that before.

With the beta FW in I did 600 yards in the pool and still the stroke detection doesn’t work… everything is detected as free (free, breast, back). Once change I did see was, when there was a change in stroke during a length, the next turn wasn’t detected.

@Pep-Carbonell only accurate method is a professional lactate measurement on a treadmill. If you can not do that or you don’t want to spend the money, a field test like a 10km Time-Trial/Race or 1h all-out is the most accurate you can go. The average HR for the last 20 min is in the ball park of ±3 BPM of your lactate threshold. If you do that 2 or 3 times over the next months to reduce daily influences you will be able to quite accurately narrow down your HR at the lactate threshold. Formulas like 90% of HRmax are way to inaccurate and can be ±20 BPM off. ZoneSense is already more accurate but can still have around ±10 BPM inaccuracy as scientific works could show. A deviation of 10 BPMs is quite good compared to the other calculation methods but it’s still huge if you want to train correctly in the zones.

Received feedback from the support team. They tell me that the Peak Pro is no longer manufactured, nor that they have the parts to repair it. Not sure why they talk about parts, as to me, the issue had nothing to do with “mechanics” (but hey I’m not a techncian). Their position is “we can maybe fix it, but a cost that wouldn’t be relevant to you”, so instead, they offer to me a replacement with another device. With an incredible discount of 10€ !!! Quite interstingly, the Peak Pro is one of the models they’re offering in this deal of the century. Yes. The same model that is not manufactured anymore and for which they have no spare parts if there’s an issue. Just bought a new Sports2. But with a “I give these guys one last chance, before I move to G” approach, as I’m pretty pi**ed off, the failure happened after a failed update (according to me, but once again, I’m no Suunto technicain), 2 weeks after the warranty expired, and by the fact that the support is putting me in a position where I have no other option that to buy a new device. Aren’t they clamining they are a sustainable company? “Repairability” is the basis of being sustainable, especially for a device that was first realseased less than 3 years ago. Or is the image they want to give some sort of green-washing. Anyways…

@lessthanmore I’ve reached out to Suunto, that gave me some directions that didn’t work. Now I’m waiting for a new reply after that the problem will be managed by the technical team. I’m quite sure that the issue is connected with the update of the apps.

Hello, today we noticed this issue on my wifes 5 Peak. Unfortunatelly it has already 2.5 year so it is not under warranty anymore. And she is light user, and not wearing it while washing dishes, showering, sleeping etc. Only around 9hours a day during working days only and then while cycling/hiking but thats few times a month. Interesting take! A lightweight Suunto with Stryd support would be a game-changer for runners. I doubt they’ll add it, but if they did, I’d consider it too. The T6c was legendary—2000 miles is impressive!

@Ars-Vitae agree about “Send Off”. Even when it is not activated, still you get vibrations. But regarding style detection. On my experience now suunto detects swimming styles much better than before. Still there are mistakes, but comparing with the past when watch basically couldn’t detect almost anything - now is much better.

@pavel.samokha Is there any hope that the Balkans will get back the contour lines above the 200 m limit anytime soon? I’m really struggling to understand why some regions get this but others don’t. This has now been going on for years, and I tend to buy a new watch every 2-3 years. So it spans the entirety of this watch’s lifetime with me. Why do some regions get better treatment regarding maps? Should this be presented to buyers so they know that, depending on the region they live in, some features could not work as expected? I love Suunto ecosystem and build quality, but I’m not sure I’d accept this limitation on my next watch TBH.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos if it’s not too late… > Agility would also be great. I would even think that having two different GPS tracks simultaneously recorded (one for the dog and one for the runner) would be incredible (just dreaming… or maybe an actual business opportunity ).

@isazi Thanks a lot. Yes it’s related to the incomplete recording matter. Once saved it shows the whole route but if you want while recording to check where you started it deletes the first bits. Quite harsh once on glaciers where you need to follow the exact route back and it does not appear. But I guess you got what the issue is related to. Thanks a lot

@Egika said in Software Update 2.43.8/.12 (2025 Q2): @Kaiphi said in Software Update 2.43.8/.12 (2025 Q2): I noticed a mistake in the sport mode mountain bike downhill. When I start the activity, it shows me the duration, but not the depth meters and distance. These remain at 0. After exiting, however, everything is displayed. Does anyone else have that? I had the same today on two out of 3 watches. The third one showed all data correctly. Reported it to Suunto Thx! I was at the bike park at the weekend and it works as before. The departure is counted and indicatedI was at the bike park at the weekend and it works as before. The departure is counted and displayed

@halajos yes, I was talking about “complex” structured interval (as we cannot define multiple set of repetitions with the standard “interval” option in sport modes)

@mountainchris here’s one issue I can not explain… I’ve started at my doorstep with clearly wrong altitude and observed how fusedalti had corrected altitude after the first “hill”. the route should be 99.something% symmetrical but a alti drop happened 1/3rd way back and it remained wrongish. the graph itself does not look like the sensor was blocked. no up or down spikes. but the last bit on the way home has a different shape than the start that was corrected by fusedalti. it would be interesting how often fusedalti kicks in and if it also considers gps signal strength for accuracy? I think it does, because if gps height is several meters off, it would unnecessarily “correct” an almost correct value. [image: 1650992338451-b9f29c17-0b90-4170-b49e-93f5bec312b7-image.png]

Whatever happened to the Suunto 5 Peak? I installed this beta release long ago, and never received an official update? @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos do you perhaps know? Whenever I go into the watch updates in the app it tells me the update will be older than the current version.

Yesterday I swam 50 laps, so 1250 m, but Race S fw 2.39. 44 only recorded 1075 m. It lost 7 laps! The first 20 laps I did freestyle + backstroke and the last 30 only freestyle (see image below). At the end of every 25 m I pressed the down button to track the lap. [image: 1742726260383-a412a7b0-1d44-4c68-b08c-4c9beaf73e72-image.png] I did the same training as the previous week, see https://forum.suunto.com/post/163734 Please Suunto, it’s time to fix the incorrect distance estimation in swimming. People can buy Suunto because it’s very nice but if it doesn’t do the main job (recording the activity correctly), they will go and buy other sports watches. Thanks.
