@pavel.samokha Thanks for your help! I was finally able to sync the Vertical with my beefy iPad (256GB). So the activity is off the watch, but it is now “stuck” in the app, is not accessible, and does also not sync with Strava. I can see it on my iPhone, but if I try to open it (on both the iPad and the iPhone), the map is grey. The stats are showing and are correct, but I cannot access the activity otherwise. None of the buttons work. The back button does work, however. The app eventually crashes if I just wait and do nothing. The iPad app still shows the a pop up with “Uploading activity,” but that’s been there for many hours now. It looks like a sync issue to the cloud now. I did send the app logs to the customer service, but didn’t hear back. I’ll re-send them, both from the iPhone and the iPad. Thanks!

@Chen-Avinadav There is nothing wrong with your Race S or the GPS reception. Upload the .fit exercise file to an analysing site and you will see that the pace/speed variations are smoothly and slowly registered second by second. The Suunto ‘bug’ (as many of us would call it) lies within the Suunto App presentation and graph scale coarseness. It doesn’t have anything to do with the length of the activity; instead the presentation ‘bug’ is triggered by too small pace variations. Look at your 41 minute exercise. At the very beginning is a smooth acceleration from something like 8:00/km. Also at the ending minutes there is a ‘downwards spike’ of pace drop registered to 8:40/km. At the other pace extreme you hover around 4:40/km. That is a 4 minute difference which allows the Suunto App to draw ‘smoothish’ curves. In the 82 minute Run session, the pace span is a mere 1m20s circa (4:24-5:44-ish/km), and somehow the Suunto App then thinks it is A-OK to draw a rough sketch of the pace variations; with very few points. Back a few months ago, when I cared about this issue and actually reported it in this forum, I tried to create smooth graphs by walking at the beginning of every Run session. But due to some delay incorporated in the Suunto App about when to start plotting the pace curve, I had to walk for an overly long time to make that happen. If memory serves me, more than 40 seconds. I decided it to be too much of a hassle…

With the beta FW in I did 600 yards in the pool and still the stroke detection doesn’t work… everything is detected as free (free, breast, back). Once change I did see was, when there was a change in stroke during a length, the next turn wasn’t detected.

@brave_dave thank you so much, I see… My last 20 minutes of a 10k race and my Zonesense anaerobic thershold are quite similar (+/-2bpm). But then, there’s the widget on Suunto Run (the watch) that tells me that my lactate thershold is 12 or 14 bpm lower than the other methods and this confuses me, I guess it’s wrong. Anyway, thanks again.

Received feedback from the support team. They tell me that the Peak Pro is no longer manufactured, nor that they have the parts to repair it. Not sure why they talk about parts, as to me, the issue had nothing to do with “mechanics” (but hey I’m not a techncian). Their position is “we can maybe fix it, but a cost that wouldn’t be relevant to you”, so instead, they offer to me a replacement with another device. With an incredible discount of 10€ !!! Quite interstingly, the Peak Pro is one of the models they’re offering in this deal of the century. Yes. The same model that is not manufactured anymore and for which they have no spare parts if there’s an issue. Just bought a new Sports2. But with a “I give these guys one last chance, before I move to G” approach, as I’m pretty pi**ed off, the failure happened after a failed update (according to me, but once again, I’m no Suunto technicain), 2 weeks after the warranty expired, and by the fact that the support is putting me in a position where I have no other option that to buy a new device. Aren’t they clamining they are a sustainable company? “Repairability” is the basis of being sustainable, especially for a device that was first realseased less than 3 years ago. Or is the image they want to give some sort of green-washing. Anyways…

Hello, today we noticed this issue on my wifes 5 Peak. Unfortunatelly it has already 2.5 year so it is not under warranty anymore. And she is light user, and not wearing it while washing dishes, showering, sleeping etc. Only around 9hours a day during working days only and then while cycling/hiking but thats few times a month. Interesting take! A lightweight Suunto with Stryd support would be a game-changer for runners. I doubt they’ll add it, but if they did, I’d consider it too. The T6c was legendary—2000 miles is impressive!

@Belledonne Recoding and displaying the temperature graph over time would require to take the watch off of your wrist for proper measurement. As this is not very practical, it would not be the standard use case. I have had the need to record temperature over night before and started an activity without GPS and with all power saving on (screen off, no heart rate, etc). You then get the temp graph in the app to review in the morning.

100% agree after testing out the Suunto Race. It would be nice to see the full text for POI notifications, like the notifications you get from Race Companion (the SuuntoPlus app). That would be ideal, then you wouldn’t have to manually switch back and fourth between data screens and the map to check which is the correct fork on a trail. I would love for this to be fixed. I’ve disabled turn-by-turn altogether because of the confusing timings (being notified either way too soon in advance, or about future turns before reaching the current one). Or another suggestion that might be a bit easier to implement as an additional option: Whenever you’re set to the map screen, a simple beep just before a turn would work nicely as a reminder to check which way to head next. That’d be ace too

Now that the Finnish summer vacations are over, let’s try again! The reason I ask is because on Oura ring, “technical limitations” are cited as reason that 33 is the lowest heart rate it can measure. For comparison, I have recorded some nights with Polar OH1. The lowest numbers it has shown have been 30, 31 and 32 with reasonable graphs but who knows about the accuracy… I did in fact upgrade from 9B to 9PP after all and so far it has measured 32 and 33 a couple of times. We’ll see what happens when it’s time for a marathon taper

@Mister-PYC I would love if Suunto had two different lock options. One that locks everything like now. And one that allowed you to do everything except pausing or stopping an activity. Let me do laps, zoom on the map, change to the climb guide on the elevation profile and so on. Without the risk of stopping the activity.

@arpoodle This is in the manual, all you have to do is set an intensity zone for HR, Pace or Power during your workout. Not available for cadence but the Cadence S+ app will do this.

I’m using the apex 2 pro strap on my vertical. I had a nylon strap from amazon before. But it was far too rigid and got a fixed bend in the fabric where I normally had it set up. So I couldn’t make small adjustments anymore as it just jumped back to the bend. I wasn’t a fan of my apex 2 pro. But coros definitely has the nicest nylon strap that I’ve used.

Had the same problem the last days. The calibration only works if you are constantly running the same pace. Warmup, Cooldown, Intervalls - everything completly off Treadmill mode os not usable that way, a manual calibration for different paces would probably help
